trying to order a MR
Sam (South Coast), when I got mine, told me that dealers get them based upon previous sales of MRs. This makes sense to me, since my local dealer has yet to get a single one in, & we're in the NW...
From a dealers POV....there are some dealers that will only be allowed 1 MR (availability, sales, ect-think of some Shelby Stangs, and Vette ZO6's-the MR can fall into that catagory). As for dealers selling whats on the lot....in stock looks better then an order out, but they should be able to contact their Mitsu rep and be able to add an order (but it can take a while to get). See if the dealer would be willing to dealer trade one or 2 of the GSR's for an MR...I bet they would.
NY/NJ dealers are horrible. Ive e-mailed plenty and visited a few. I got so fed up with them I just called up Sam at the South Coast dealer in California and bought one from him. It takes 10 years to get your car but you are paying thousands under MSRP. If you go back to the dealer ask them how much the MR would be. I bet they are charging a nice premium above MSRP. I remember when the GSR first came out NJ dealers were chargning a 10k markup called "market adjustment." I wouldnt be surprised if they pulled the same crap with the MR.
