Wait, what is the point of having the keyhole next to the steering wheel if you need the "fast key fob" also to start the car. if you are using the "valet key" its because your key fob doesn't work. Sounds pretty dumb if you can't turn on the car with just the "valet" key when the fast key runs out of battery.

Seriously. if you can't start the car with the "valet" key when the fast key doesn't work then whats the point of having a place to insert the "valet key" in the steering wheel. just for ****s and giggles?

the chip is inside the keyfob, and im pretty sure that doesn't run on batteries, it sends the signal to the car that it is present and will allow you to start the car with the provided key. no one ever said that is a valet key

AHAHA... thanks. I bet its and RFID chip. I should have realized that since I've built an RFID reader and chips. Same thing that your I-Pass or EZ-Pass works. Although if you have the right equipement its quite easy to read any RFID signal and then you could easilly build a new RFID circuit that brodcasts the same signal.

Anyway, makes sense now. And Rguy you can take the plastic off. You just squeeze 2 tabs on opposite sides of it.

Just remember with the evo you have to be close enought to read the frequency. What is it 3 feet? i think. So if you see a guy standing around you car with some sort of electronic equitment be suspicious of him, lol.

Also not sure how RFID works, but is encrypted right? Im pretty sure Mitsu would use encryption to protect the car and buyers.
