thanks noize. The OT bash posts bother me. thanks for the relevant replys. it appears many of you are having the exact issue. A new cable will fix the hard pulling issue. I will let the dealer know. thanks

I have this exact problem. From the start I noticed it was hard as hell to open the hood. One day it would not pop and the handle snapped. Bull****! I took it to Mitsubishi 3 weeks ago and am still waiting for one of the three parts to come in which they tell me is on national backorder. I wanna do an oil change soon, they better get this **** taken care of soon.
Mine is pretty stiff too, but not broken yet. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem? Sounds like maybe the cable is a bit too long. If it is adjustable I would rather fix it myself than have to take it back to the dealership.

I had the same problem but I sprayed lithium grease on the latch itself...the one that actually holds the hood and surrounding areas....problem solved. Hood latch can be pulled with one finger now to open the hood.....note...i did not spray the latch inside the car...only the hood area...dont want anyone spraying inside the car and be like wtf..hahaha
Mine was so hard to pull i stretched the cable until the handle was maxed on distance. I had to get a pair of pliers and pull the cable that was attached to the handle even further to get the hood to open. Total design flaw.
Hey all! I had this same thing happen and the dealer fixed it no problem. I even brought the car in with mods not that would have anything to do with the hood issue but they were cool anyway. I think it has something to do with the rubber bumpers in the engine compartment. I just keep mine adjusted all the way down.
Hope this helps,

Well after reading this thread a while back and not having the problem since I owned the car, it sucks to say after 5 months of owning the car it finally happened. I'll be taking the car to the dealer tomorrow, let's see how it turns out.
