Got it fixed yesterday. Works easy now! They replaced the entire cable with the "new" water tight cable as per Mitsu. Routing was the same as the new update. We tried adjusting the hood bump stops but this did nothing as the problem does not lay with the latch, but the cable.

My dealer wont do anything but replace the actual latch, told me if this doenst fix it they will look into it further. I reffered them to this link and the other one concerning this problem too. Just makes me have to make a second trip back to them once they realize its going to break yet again.

Mine feels ready to snap but hasn't yet. Dealer says Mitsu knows about the problem but there is no known solution. Until an official fix comes out, just have to wait until it breaks.

There is an official fix for it. I went to the dealer yesterday to have them look at my broken plastic part where you pull to open the hood. The service guy went to a back office, then came up front with 2 papers he had printed out from mitsu stating that they were to change out the wire with a newer one. My parts will be in next week. Until then.... I keep a set of pliers in my glovebox Also im sure you can hasten the "breaking" of the plastic release part.

The new cabel is it coated with something to make it resist water/rusting or is it sheilded or something?

I want to fix it once and be done with it not fixing it over and over again .

Mine used to be easy and over the last 2 years has gotten stiff. I worry every time I pull it.
