Considering X as my next car... wait for 09?

I am thinking about getting EVO X for my next car and debating whether to wait for 09 model or just pick up 08 model for cheaper (considering a lot of unsold X's).

What do you guys think? Looks of EVO X is growing on me and IMO X looks better than the new STI.

I'm in the same boat as yourself. I got an offer on the table for a PB X GSR SSS/Navi/Aero/SprtAccPkg for like 34k OTD, which is an awesome price but I am still on the fence. At this price, I'm getting it for like 4k under invoice, in the color I want with all the options, but I'm still gunshy about pulling the trigger. I went to look at the MR but the only thing that interests me is the Leather seating in it, the TC-SST would be nice but not for 5k more than I'm getting the GSR fully loaded for.

Tough call guys. They also say don't buy the first year of the new model and it's shown it's ugly face a couple of times with some X's. If you can stand the wait then go ahead but if you're on the fence over a good deal just remember that it's under warranty so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I bought a first year 02 WRX and surprisingly car has never given me any problems.

Any idea what the change would be aside from stronger pedal?

I personally will probably go with the 08 because I put on alot of miles and the 08 will be benifitial in the long run. But if thats not a problem for you just wait for an 09.

$4000 under invoice...basically you're saying the dealer is going to lose $4000 for each Evo he moves out the door...their cost price minus $4000!! They would never survive too long as a business!!

Are you sure its not $4000 off the sticker price? I just find it hard to believe that a dealer would offer such a deal. I can see selling it at invoice or a few hundred over being a common occurance. Regardless of how small the profit is on a car for the dealer, they will always have to make "something".

I use to work in sales and the sales manager would never approve of such a heavy loss just to move inventory...tiny to small profit they would approve.

Yes it comes to about 4k under invoice pricing for PB X GSR SSS/Aero/Navi/SprtAccPkg. Which is about 34K OTD including Military rebate, which breaks down to 1.3k for TTT and 32.8k for the car. The MSRP for the car with all the options mentioned it is ~40k and invoice is ~36k. I already have the contract in my hands waiting to be signed but I am hesitant bc I feel like if I sign now the '09 might come out with GSR leather option or maybe a 6-speed tranny and I will be pissed that I did not wait. Or maybe MItsu will throw out a grand or 2 in incentives as the year progresses and the Evo refuses to sell like it is now.

LOL@ trying to buy an Evo X in Virginia. All the dealers up here are smoking crack. Hall Mitsu still has their crazy markups on their Evos and now they have an MR that they marked up to $50k... lmfao. I'm from Orlando, FL and therefore a Florida resident. I have some leave coming up so I'm buying one down at the Mitsu in Daytona Beach, so I don't have to have a front bumper plate [and 3 holes drilled into my front bumper]] and I can transfer my current FSU tag to my Evo w/o hassle.

I have been in the VAB area for a number of years, and have heard lots of bad things about Hall M. I had a problem with my VIII, and their techs couldn't figure out that it was missing a part (the pill lines). They had me march across the street to go buy regular vacuum lines & a T splitter from an auto parts store. I came here for the answer and order the part from M.

I don't trust Hall any further then I can throw them. Little Joe's Auto on Military has been advertising their M's on TV and have been showing their X's. You could look there and compare; though it may not be much better.

I'm still not sure about the X (read disappointed), I'm going to hold on to my VIII for a while longer before replacing it.

Unlikely, but there will be some other improvements. I think they are supposed to go with a bigger turbo that's more like the size of the 9, the tranny issues will most likely be fixed, and the interior will be marginally nicer.

I'm in the same boat. I want an Evo X now, but if I get one and the 09s wind up having a 6-speed or any other worthwhile options I won't be too happy.
