Problems with tinting windows?

I was just curious if I was the only person who is having tint issues with there X....

It seems the rubber moldings on the side are too tight and now I have vertical scratch marks all on the tint. Mostly towards the back half of the windows.... So is anyone else noticing that the molding is too tight against the windows causing scratches in tint? Or is this a flaw with mine and I should take it to a dealer to look at?

My tinter said these cars do not have felt to protect against scratching as window goes up and down and had to install felt liners to prevent scratching.

Yeah....if for any reason you're not satisfied and you feel the tint is having issues, I would take it back to the dealer and have them solve the problem for you. I'm sure they will cooperate. I had my tint done by a local shop and the tint wasn't done properly on the corner of one of the windows. It was peeling. I took it back and they fixed the problem for me in 35 min. and didn't charge me extra since the work is guaranteed and it came with a lifetime warranty. Your Mitsu dealer should fix the problem, but it may take them a day or two. Yes, take your car to the dealer and don't delay or the problem could get worst. The problem will stay in the back of your mind until you get it solved anyways.....Trust me I know the feeling.

Ya I got the tint from a shop once I got the car from the dealership, so should I go to the dealership to show them the rubber is scratching the tint and then go back to the tint shop? Or what? I'm not sure who to take it to first to show the problem...

Very good question. I think I would take it to the tint shop first if were you. The reason? It's because if you go to your dealership first, they'll say that they may not have anything to do with aftermarket changes that you bring on to the vehicle. The tint shop's job is to make sure the tint is perfect regardless of any rubber or anything. hey........did you roll down your windows before it was all the way dry by chance?

Nope....they said don't roll them down for 3 days, I went 5 days, haha. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my car. No trash or an loose objects ever inside, washed weekly, so these lines in the tint are annoying. Just how easy would it be to install felt? Would all tint shops have this?

The tint place should have noticed this. Its a common problem with this car. As people mentioned you need to get some kind of felt. Get something called moleskin. Bring it to your tinting place and they should replace it free of charge. Ask them to install the felt so it doesnt happen again.

The tint shop i went to didn't realize that there wasn't any felt on the inside part of the window, so they ended up replacing it free of charge and installed the felt lining for a fee.
