Keep your 8 or get a 9. My Evo 8 does have a few mods. lol.
When it comes to the Evo X, don't believe the hype !
If your 8 has a few mods then naturally you will feel better in the faster car. Mod per mod the X gets more HP so why are you trying to downplay the X if you're keeping it stock.

Personally I thought the 8's and 9's were cool, but when time came to get one it wasnt really much of a choice for me. Newer, nicer and refined. Depends on how "in the now" you like to be I reckon. Keep putting lipstick on the old girl (VIII,IX) or get a new GF (X), its up to you.

IMO EVO VIII's and IX's will start to look very dated in a year or two as they are based on 90's styling. Last gen WRX's and STI's already look ancient.

I would go for the X but it should come down to if you can want/handle the financial commitment and really want the X.

look at the progress X's are making with so little mods. I admit comming from my 8 to X the X is sluggish. BUT...thats because my 8 had a $hit load of mods 57trim, hks 280, alky, and other mods pretty much the works.

Its hard to say im happy with my X's power because I came from a 8 that could suck a maf out no problem lol. But when i start upgrading the X and get it tune who knows what kind of power i will achieve.

The year is almost over and there's a X running 10s ....WOW lol

bud good luck with your choice my advice do wats in your budget. Everyone has their own opinion. Shoots keep the 40+ k save and get a gtr LMAO j/j then blow everyone away. gtr= chicks, speed, power, sex haha

So many oppinions I love it! Ok well I should prolly describe my situation...Im 23 and single and I am getting a raise in jan and with minimal overtime ill be making about 50k a year..i have full health benefits so i pretty much pay nothing if i get sick and if i get injured i go on comp and still get paid...im a nys correction officer if you really wanna know..my rent is like 500 a month lol and i drive a 09 corolla S for my daily driver

I like my VIII it is a 05 with 35k on it for mileage...it had been in a small fender bender b4 me and has had multiple owners..i sort of rushed the buy. it has basic bolt on mods thats all its prolly got about 305whp

the evo X has grown on me because for one ive always loved the front..the rest of the car just sorta grew on me...i think the interior looks 100 times better and my goal is to have a monster of a car but also something that looks nice

i dont wanna have a fast car and when ppl hop inside they look at the interior like wtf...cuz u gotta admit for being a 05 the interior reminds me or a 92 camry i once had lol it just doesnt look nice to me

so my goals are to build a monster..its not a daily driver..i want a newer car..if i bought the newer one i would mod it..why mod a newer car you ask? well cuz i want to lol im just picky like that and am young and have the money and time to invest

you mention waiting for the XI? il have to look at those..im really leaning towards getting a X

so now you guys know that no matter what car i end up with it is NOT staying stock..im planning to mod the **** out of whatever one i go with

btw if i get a new car i know the only owner is me and its been in good hands since day 1 and also this is a car i will most likely build and keep forever..being that i live in nys i dont drive the car in the winter and if its raining i wont really take it out unless im already out and it starts to rain..so with that being said it would take me like 5 years to get the same mileage my evo has now..it would be something i could keep forever and it could turn out to be really fast id like to think

Keep the 8. The economy sucks for one and second theres a baby evo (ralliart Lancer) coming out soon for half the price. Boy you X guys got ripped (LOL)... At least the 8 and 9 owners can say THEY were the only Evo for that year....

You're the man, Noize.

I am for my IX and you are for your X. I'm not going to back off from my thoughts and you won't either. The X is just more refined and heavier because of its technology, safety, and convenience. It will not compare to the rawness of a VIII or IX. I have driven both and they are two different cars. If you love driving and want to feel one with the car.... The VIII or IX will overcome .

I've owned both a VIII and an X. Yes, the VIII and IX are more raw and I can appreciate the experience however the limits and accessibility of the X's performance is outstanding for its price.

Your last sentence about the limits and accesibility of the X;s performance is outstanding..im still doing a lot of reading..so its pretty safe to say the potential to build a monster is there for the Xs?

I don't know what you're referring to as a "monster." A track monster? Absolutely. You can go read BlackTrack's threads and see the success he has had already with his X.

In terms of building a dyno queen or drag car, I don't think anyone knows what kind of big powers the 4B11 will be able to make. The 4G63 has a massive aftermarket and is a known entity so if you're willing to shell out the cash, the limit is the dept of your wallet.

Lets just say that the X is for the more mature, more emotionally stable person. The 8/9 just says "The hell with the rule book and I will let my emotions run wild!!!" Does that set everything straight now?

What are you talking about? Baby Evo? A Ralliart is no where near the performance level of an X.... and the economy is better on the X than the 8. And if you didn't know, they had a Ralliart after the 8 came out. I can't believe people are coming with a bunch of bull and posting it on here, I love the 8's and the 9's but the X is a better machine. It may not be as raw, but it shines in other areas that the 8 or 9 didn't. It is more Mod friendly also.

Nope, it does not set everything straight. Like I said in the pervious post, it may not be as raw, but it can do much more than a 8 or 9.
