Should I keep my evo viii or upgrade to a evo X

Ok so I used to think the evo X's were ugly as hell and I just didnt like them. Lately they have been growing on me and I cant decide if I want to keep my EVO VIII and keep modding it or get a evo X and mod that after a little while....just cant decide...so my question is for those of you that upgraded from the vii viii or IX to a evo X why did you do so? what do you like about the evo x that the other models dont provide? for me the interior seems to be a little nicer for a start...just lookin for some oppinions!

Let's see.. Better handlingvia S-AWC, automatic climate control, cruise control, optional navigation system, amazing response to mods, good gas mileage (25 highway)..

Why wouldnt you upgrade?

Those options seem really nice And if it responds to mods well then thats even better! I really wouldnt want extra features like that and have the car respond a little more poorly. Can it respond just as well as the VIII's and IX's?

$500 tune netted me 72whp. I think we can say it does just as good or better than the 8 and 9's did.

I also agree. If money isn't an issue with you then go for it. But why put yourself into more debt when all you want is just something new. The Evo VIII basically has all the capabilities of the X.

There's always going to bigger and better things, and if you keep on wanting them then it's going to get you into deeper you know what.

Yeh true...Money isnt that much of an issue I could get one of these and be fine. I dont always want the bigger and better things. Just sometimes I get inside mine and think the inside looks a little chincy is all idk. IM not making any decisions thats why I was asking first if ppl upgraded from their viii's and ix's and if they thought it was worth it or not.

depends on what you want to do with the car. Personally I like keeping my car stock, and i just recently traded my 05 VIII for X MR, and I LOVE IT! I think the tech package is a must! Makes the car seem more modern vs our old 1980's knobs and such haha. Daily driving is definitely better, smoother, and quieter. I can't say if it's much faster than my VIII as i've been very light on the pedal so far. Waiting on the break in of the car before i start gasing it If i had to do it over again I'd definitely trade in and get the X MR again but in white. haha the black seems too gray for me haha.

There's pretty much no question that the X is better than our VIIIs in almost every way. The question for you is if you want to pay about $15k to upgrade. As much as I'd like to upgrade, I don't have the disposable cash available.

FWIW, I was talking to Robispec about the X and Robi says the X will easily outperform the older Evos; the only way the older Evos would have a chance is if they're at least 300lbs lighter.

Haha classic! I guess since my Evo 8 SSL package was only 250 lbs lighter it was no chance! I loved my 8 but the X has me won over even though I wasn't completely convinced at first. The handling really stands out as being so much more refined, you would never know it was the 250-300lbs heavier car. I've driven the car around with higher pressure in the tires and it's scary how nimble this car is with minimal suspension mods. Turn in, mid turn control, I can't even imagine how it would be with wider tires and high quality coilovers.

Creature comforts are better even though I lost leather, the interior is more pleasing and cruise control for long trips is a welcome upgrade. My 8 with stock suspension was as bumpy as my upgraded one with 45 PSI in the tires. At the normal 35-40 PSI it's more liveable and just plain out handles the old car in every aspect.

The extra weight seems to be countered with a little extra power mods easily enough. My 8 with similar mods but no FMIC was able to do mid 12's at 110-112 trap speeds and I am just a clutch away from matching those times. Quarter mile times aside, the car has quicker spool and shorter gears so when I get on it the car just feels that much faster especially compared to stock.

When I throw a larger turbo on this car it will be unruly.
