What would u do??

Hey guys. I got offered 2 choices today at the mitsu dealership.

I was offered a 2003 evo 8 gsr with 65k miles.. But They said I needa put more money down because of my trade in. Orrr they would put me in a new 09 evo X gsr and I would be paying roughly the same as I pay on my current car. Now I don't know much about the X's. I been kinda away from my evo research. Alot of people are 50.50 on what I should do. Some say the X is big and bulky and slow. I should get the 8. And others say who cares there willing to give u a new car..

I ammm searching and reading as I type it. Tomororw I am test driving both. I know which ever feels better go with. But as far as all you guys knowledge on evo's and what not. As far as performance goes. And what you can do. Which would be the better deal to get?? The 8 or the X??

Go w/the X. The VIII & the X both have very similar acceleration times. The X is being proven to take mods very well, just like the previous 4G63 Evos. Plus, it's a new car, under new warranty. But by no means is the X "big & bluky & slow"! X has a very rigid chassis & of course the AYC. It also depends of course on how much these cars are going for. The VIII should be no more than $17k, IMO.

GSR should get better than a 13.6 in the 1/4. 0-60 should be around 4.6-4.8. This is what I've heard, since I have the MR, not GSR. You're looking at the GSR, right? The VIII is very similar according to this: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercou...0-60times.html "2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII 5.1 13.5"

I'm pretty sure that he^^^ is questioning whether or not the dealer was offering you an '08 or an '09 'cuz the '09s aren't available for several more months...

Wait...So you went in trying to buy a used '03 Evo 8. And they told you that you need to put money down because of your trade? So you must have quite a bit of negative equity in your trade that they cannot roll into the Evo 8 deal. Therefore, you must give them money to balance out the trade value.

Orrr they would put me in a new 09 evo X gsr and I would be paying roughly the same as I pay on my current car.
Basically they are just telling you that they can roll [hide] all your negative equity into the new car. Since the Evo X GSR is not selling well, they have plenty of them and therefore are giving them away.

Alot of people are 50.50 on what I should do. Some say the X is big and bulky and slow. I should get the 8. And others say who cares there willing to give u a new car...
My advice to you is to think 5 years down the road. Where are you financially in your life and where would you like to be. If your sig is correct, then you have a nice car already in the '06 Evo IX...why are you trying to get out of it after only 2 years? I could see if you were driving around a beater 10 year old Civic [which was paid off] like I did, and had been saving for upwards of 3 years for a new Evo X. Most financial experts agree that you should not devote more than half of one years salary towards transportation. So if you make 40K a year then the most you should get is a 20K dollar car. The sh*ttiness of the American economy is polluting the global economy to such a ridiculous degree, I am leery about throwing money away on frivolous depreciating assets right now, as should you.

The short answer is for you to keep your nice Evo IX until you either pay it off or pay on it enough that it has some equity in it [positive that is]. If I had a 2 year old car, I would have never bought an X. But I'm sure you already know what you are going to do. Just do it and don't look back lolz.

You are buying a car based on payment?

You are making a mistake.

You should not be buying a car.

Yes I do have a little left on my current loan. But I have the money. Money isn't an issue. If it was I wouldn't be doin this.. I was only askin if you hada choose between the 2. I dunno y this is becoming a money discussion.
