CF weight savings?

I was wondering, those that have a CF hood/trunk/spoiler, what kind of weight savings are you guys having? I am contemplating on getting a CF hood/trunk/spoiler, but want to see how much of a difference it is and if it's really worth it.

Everyone is welcome to input their opinions, I don't mind. I want the CF because I want that "car show" look and also the weight, but then again, I didn't spend $37,000 (after tax and everything) to just buy CF and throw on my car without it either looking "clean" and/or having a real purpose (function).

Most of the cheaper (seibon) CF products actually weigh more than stock In order to see weight reduction you're going to have to spend big money for parts like Voltex...

Most people would be better off with a gym membership.

CF is mainly for looks on our cars as most parts are already pretty light and CF at times needs additional reinforcements.

Smarter money is spent on a light tune....

Something I was considering is the weight distribution of the X. I believe for the GSR it is 55/45 or 56/44 f/r. So if I wanted to get the car closer to 50/50, I would want to lighten up the front end and leave the rear alone. A carbon fiber hood for example might be a good start-if it is a couple pounds lighter than the stock hood. Replacing the front brace with a lighter one might help as well. I am looking at Varis for the carbon fiber hood, but I am researching the weight vs the stock hood.

well the hood & roof are aluminum, not sure about the trunk. Aluminum is already pretty light. I forget who makes the roof, but there was a CF one posted on here several months ago & it only was 1lb lighter than stock... I'll see if I can find it.

edit: found it, it's an AMS roof https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...bon+fiber+roof

That is what I thought. Only 1-2 pounds difference. But I think the Varis hood will provide better cooling for the turbo and let more heat out-which is a good thing.

If you want a carbon hood that's significantly lighter it should be made out of full carbon and have a bunch of holes in it to reduce weight, improve cooling and downforce. Something like the Voltex hood.

I saw the CBD hood/trunk, do you guys think those have any type of significant weight reduction? Also, do you guys think the Seibon OEM rear spoiler is the same or heavier than stock?

Do any of you guys think it'll be too "racer bay" or "rice" if the X were to have CF hood/trunk/spoiler?

One way to take some weight off the X is to take it off the rear of the by going with a lite-weight rear crash bar . We make a rear crash bar which is about 8lbs making it near 35lbs less than stock
