window view question
so say someone that between 5.5 to 5.7 sits in a evo X, is the steering wheel goign to take most of the view through the window, or does it have a seat raiser thing like most cars now. or would it be to hard to just unbolt the driver seat and put a couple washers on the bolts(maybe new bolts). woud it hurt anything to do that???? thanks guys
Well i'm 5'8" and i put the steering wheel all the way down... not because of my upper body height its because it just feels more like a rally car to me.... but to answer your question.. you should not have to worry about vision clearance if you adjust to the lower settings......... help ?
you mean lower settings on the steering wheel, or on the seat. and in the future or if i decide to trade my car in and get one. would it hurt to put like 2 small washers on the seat bolts to raise it
IMO the seats sit fairly tall already.
The seat does not move up and down. You get fore and aft and seat back position only.
My wife is 5'4" and has no issue with the wheel (she just pulls it to a lower setting than me).

I'm about 5'7" - 5'8" and the biggest issue I had with the X's seating position is that when I found a position that felt right for the pedals (allowed room for pedal to the floor and heel toe) the steering wheel was too far away from my upper body. As a result, I would have to crank the seat back forward. In this position the top of the headrest was over verticle and hitting me in the back of the head all the time. No way I could put on a helmet without looking down all the time..
I ordered a driver side HKS Kansi Perfect Height seat rale kit from JapanParts. This allows you to raise the rear of the seat 25mm or 35mm and leave the front stock or raise it 15mm. With the rails installed, the seating position is much better than before, not only do I have a better upper body position, but I have more room under the steering wheel for heel toe work.
Be careful as they have one part number for a set that lowers the seat, and another for the set that raises the seat.
I think Dyno4mance brings up a great point.
I'm 5'11" but I have short legs and a long torso.
When I get the seat in a good foot position, I can't reach the steering wheel and have to put the seat very upright.
I wish the X had a telescoping wheel.
Dyno4mance, how much was the seat rail kit?

Changing the steering wheel angle to go lower shouldn't be a major problem either with a few washers. I had the same issue at 5'11" and the Evo 8 fit very well. Same deal where I had the perfect seating setup only to find my normally somewhat long arms could barely reach the steering wheel correctly.
So I have to move a little closer than I normally would to make my wrists hit the top of the steering wheel for proper road racing reach. Generally I try and lower my steering wheel to the lowest setting that I can still read the speedo and tach.

I personally had a lot of problems with the X's seating position where as the VIII fit like a glove.
