this must be close to invoice with the options.
Yeah because most other people want 44k with Nav and Aero. I thought I got a good deal. If you are in Texas, I'd head to Lewisville Mitsubishi now and save a couple of grand if I had to buy all over again.

C'mon...new cars are just a product. They make money on used cars, trade-ins, and exploiting human nature and impulsiveness on the upsell. I can't honestly believe you feel the need to throw in an extra $1000 on top of the smaller profit price. I'm not saying every car I have ever purchased was invoice, but the evoX and about a million other cars are being seriously discounted in today's market. If somebody is starving in a sales job, maybe they should just improve their skillset and get into something else. Save the world with your own wallet.
Your not paying the salesman $1,000, it goes to the deal and the salesman will make usually $200 assuming he gets 20% on new cars if you pay $1,000 of gross.

Yeah don't sweat it guys, the "Invoice" is the public number. In 06 I bought a WRX limited for invoice, and the salesman told me he still got a $500 for the sale on top of his hourly salary.

Omg I would be rich if I got paid $500 everytime I sold a car at invoice! I get paid $100 when I sell a car at invoice. That salesman was lieing to you. Unless their was a spiff on that car he sold you or a contest for that day.

I knew it. You sling cars. You say we should pay $1000 over invoice, but would probably never do so yourself.

I do realize in-demand cars and new models sell for above invoice, but a lot of end of year stuff is gonna go cheaper. There are spiffs, bonuses, trades and used car hustles to make up for the new car commissions. The sales staff are hired to make the dealership money. The relationship to the customer is adversarial. Not everybody realizes this.

This is just plain bad advice. There are no rules on how much more we should pay over "invoice".

I work at a dealership too, not as a full-time salesman, but I do dabble in sales occasionally as needed.

It's OUR job to get the customer to give us as much as we can get. It's the CUSTOMER'S "job" to get the car as cheap as he can get away with. Fact of life. If he doesn't like the price, he can negotiate more, or he can walk.

**** "fair". There's no such thing. Welcome to capitalism, comrade.

Buying a car is not a charity. I should not give my hard earned money to a salesman for nothing. This is not a solution to the economic crisis either. I did not hear either presidential candidates list giving my money to a dealership so the salesman could take it home with him as an option to save our failing economy.
Anyway I guess I would say I disagree
Happy hunting out there.

You forgot dealer invoice pricing. They can keep the dealer holdback of 3%.

In this economy, that's little more than a month away.
