does TPMS light cause engine cut off at speed

i was at a track this weekend with my friend and his Evo X. he has after market wheels with R-comp and no TPMS sensors. the TPMS light was on. the engine was cutting off towards the end of the back straight. there's a long left hand sweeper leading into the back straight. at first we thought it was fuel starvation but it happened even at 3/4 tank of fuel. then we thought maybe the car was running too rich and it was miss fire but that didn't seem right also. the cut off happened at different rpm from 4000 to 6000 but it always happened towards the end of the back straight at around 100 mph. then i thought maybe because ECU thinks there's a flat tire because of the TPMS light being on, and it wouldn't let the car go past 100 mph.

does anyone else have similar issue?

I looked up and down in the owner's manual and couldn't find anything on this, maybe MMNA might have an answer.

If it's that intrusive, it's gotta be disconnected. Gotta be a way..
Then again, I don't see why the system would do that. TPMS' I thought were passive

Its something else unrelated to the TPMS. My car was out at the track at Autoclub speedway with aftermarket wheels and no TPMS. Car ran great with no hiccups whatsoever. In fact, my TPMS light went out after the track session...but came back on shortly afterwards.

Its just the ECU. It has nothing to do with TPMS. Evo X's have that problem of the limp mode from time to time when the car is pushed hard with the factory tune.

A flash will fix that.

what kink of top speed were you pulling. i just think it's kinda weird that it only happen at the same part of the track. if it's an ECU tune issue, i would think that it could happen at any part of the track.

The first couple of laps would be fine at 100-115 but after the TPMS warning came on it was like the ECU set a speed limit and wouldn't let me over 95-100 mph (6500rpm in 4th and 4400rpm in fifth). On the way homw when I had the stock wheels back on the car I did a few high speed pulls with no issues.

The TPMS has no effect on the drive ability of the car. It's simply an indicator. I service them at work all the time and they're just annoying.

The sensors are but does it limit speed if it is detected?
