Any TIPS on storing a car for 1 month?

Sorry if this is the wrong subforum to post this in. Just wanted to know if you guys have any tips on storing a car for a little over 1 month? Is that considered a long time? I'm going to top off the fuel tank and disconnect the battery. Anything else missing? Some people are stating to add some fuel stabilizer and to put it on jackstands but I think those things are for storage 6 months or longer. Any tips?

I leave the country on 2 to 3 week trips all the time. Parking your car for 30 days, if the battery is in good shape, will pose no problem. Hell, I leave my cars in the airport parking lot nearly that long sometimes.

The other thing you could do is have a family member start the car every two weeks.

Well, I think it sucks for the car having to be stored...so I say just let me barrow it for that month and I'll keep it happy and doing what it loves best, being driven..lol thats my 2cents tho.

But as far as your question, one month is usually the max amount of days you should let a car with fuel in it before it(gas) needs to be treated. So I would say add some stabilizer and it should be good. Jacks for only 4 weeks? I wouldn't go so far as in doing that. I've been on vacation for around 3 weeks and a few days, so just shy of a month and I didn't add stablizer or jacks and it ran fine, but that was a honda. Again if that does work for you, my first option is always on the table lol. Goodluck.

Thanks for the speedy responses guys! I guess I don't need to worry about flat-spots on my winter tires?

Technically, I'll be gone for 40 days. The car will be in a garage in Toronto. READ: sub-zero temperatures during winter, so I think adding some stabilizer and disconnecting the battery is given. Also, gonna do a quick wash to make sure there's no salt buildup underneath.

Yeah, a wash wouldn't hurt. 40 days shouldn't be so bad for the tires. Just the fuel stabilizer(which I use for my sea doos, works great) will keep the fuel ready for you when you come back. Disconnecting the battery will also be a good idea I suppose. But yeah. If you have a car cover, I guess it would help, not much or at all but maybe lol

I have like 7 cars right now and sometime I don't drive a car for 2 months... Nothing will happen... A car cover so your car is clean when you get back ands a full and I mean full tank of gas so you don't get any condensation in the tank.... Besides that your car will be ok... If your going to be gone for an extended time period put the on stands and fuel stabilizer... Don't forget to disconnect the battery... Always a good Idea

battery tender will keep your battery in tip top shape (long periods of discharge are not good)... but it also uses electricity.

Buy new battery vs Pay to charge it "unecessarily" is the question????

I just make sure my gas tank is full and all the maintenance is done before keeping in the gargage. I usually have someone responsible start it up once in awhile and that doesn't mean drive either. I've been doing this for a few years and I deploy a lot and I'm gone for four to six months at a time.

1 month isnt a big deal. this is what i do....

full tank, battery disconnected. after 2 weeks have someone connect battery, start her up for 5 minutes and moving her few inches to have the car sit on a different spot of the tire. DONE. k?

What do you guys think about 4 months? Would I need fuel stabilizer? What about putting it up on Jack Stands?
