Will Evo X ever rally in the WRC?
The only time I caught a glimpse of the Evo X in the WRC was in this year's rally Japan when it was used as a course car:

The Dakar car is probably based on the Pajero.
Evo hasn't been used for WRC for quite awhile now, as the last one was based on base Lancer instead.
They probably stopped because WRC isn't too market worthy, just look at the sales figure of Peugeot and Citroen outside Europe.
Even if they do plan to make one again, most likely it will be based on that new hatch design (see Ralliart Sportsback) or Colt.
They should make the next evo platform a 3 door hatch and compete in WRC again.

If they are backing out of WRC, whats the point of developing the 4B11 as a 2 liter engine, that was the reason why they had the 2 liter engines for the previous evos, it would have been nice to see a 2.3 or 2.5 evo
I've been looking around for anything on the evo x ever racing in the WRC and there is almost nothing only footage of a whole bunch of Subbies... it seems like Rally isnt the evos thing no more and gave the crown to the subbies...
Any hope of ever seeing a Evo X Officialling running in a WRC race??

1. people are forgetting the Mitsubishi as a whole is a HUGE company, making cars is one of many of their businesses, its not the money that they dont have, its a business decision, do we invest in our car division, financial division, steel making division, etc. do you think that Ford has tons of money to throw around? friggin suzuki is in it, come on
2. so cars are moving to hatch, curious, is there a specific reason behind it? Also, they are about to release a sportsback ralliart body which would qualify as hatch so all the foundation is there, the hatch body, stiff frame/suspension/evo engine and drivetrain, now some additional work to build/tune a really car which they are already doing with a pace car.
believe me they can do it if they want, at worst, they might wait around for an independent team to start making impact on a more local level and then throw some money at them to lift them up to international level
anyhow, all of this thread is speculation, unless an insider chimes in

OP, you, and others, are really asleep at the switch on this one!
You need to be looking at the PWRC where the Evos have kicked Suboohoo A$$ all season! Last winter there was a Mitsubishi article about racing (this season) and the factory said the focus in rally would be more support for teams in the PWRC with the focus being not just taking the title back but also total domination of the class once again.
You can catch up on everything you've missed all year right here -

And don't forget out the Canadian rally team:

Andrew-Comrie Picard is now running a Ralliart in the Great White North. Their new car made a debut at the Targa Newfoundland.

Mitsubishi pulled out of WRC a few years ago due to funding issues. You can see alot of EvoXs in the PWRC (Production car class) including the Ralliart sponsored one.
This may be a little off topic but there are rumors that WRC for next year or the year after will ban turbo engines........... Wonder how many more teams will pull out.
