Will Evo X ever rally in the WRC?
No one answered it yet so, the reason for hatches being popular is: aerodynamics.
At least, that's what I've heard/read. Though it could also have something to do with weight balancing.
PS: New Top Gear tonight FTMFW

Just to keep things quick, launch controller systems do not involved with the transmission as far as the systems that I am aware of. This is just for factual information.
As for saying the point about relating racing and road and the Nissan potential failure due to the lack of particular experience in terms of rally, all I have to say is this: Mitsubishi have years and successful experiences behind the Lancer Evolution, yet the Evolution's transmission is infamously notorious incline at failing. Evident, the Evolution X as many members in the forums has experienced premature clutch failure. The general consensus is that clutch capability is unexpectedly short. The earlier Evolutions face with highly complicated transmission systems that are prone to failure. This trend is likely to continue regardless the amount of racing experience Mitsubishi has gathered in the short term.

Now I am confused about your new directions. You talk about the EVO's tranny is "infamously notorius incline [inclined]at [to] failing [failure]" and then, as evidence, you say "many members ... [on EVOM] ... experienced premature clutch failure". This connection of statements makes no sence. The clutch failures, to which you refer, have nothing to do with tranny failures for one and for another, there havn't been any. Yes, there have been clutch burn outs due to driver errors and the addition of whp way past OEM ~220whp. Please tell me your source(s) where the X's tranny has failed in OEM trim.

Sorry, I am going to keep this brief.
My previous comments are on the correlation with motorsports technology and road-going products, which might be a potential explanation or the incomplete reason of GTR R35's failure and the success of Evo X MR with the launch control.
As for X's transmission failure in OEM trim, there are posts in this forums about clutch slippage. Yes, the cause could be of driver errors.

Not that agree with him... But he never said that it (the X) wasn't faster. Just that it wasn't a real "evolution." Likely based on not having the 4G63 motor or some other crap like that.
