Heard today Subie pulled out of WRC, wonder if these cars will still even compete?

too many rule changes have killed the wrc that is why sebastian loeb might move to F1. if they kept the hatch from competing then the evo would have a fair chance vs the focus, citroen, peugeot, etc. now they want to limit to NA, 2.0L=insane! maybe for safety reasons!

well... F1 is also a LOT more money for the driver. Also the F1 is world recognized, and considered the best car sport. So there is a big prestige thing for also.
I will cheer for him. I think he is the most talented driver today.

Example.
He started in the Rally du VAl, with The S1600 C2 , and his wife was the co driver. Of course was a lots of WRC car too.
Before the race everybody was talking about, How he could or will keep up with the long time S1600 racers - successful pro drivers.
Then he gave them minutes on the rally , and he finished the ABSOLUTE 3rd place!

loeb is not really that fast when you look at his races but shows clear error-free driving lines. compared to jani paasonen, tommi makinen, and the other works driver but they crash a lot also.

Loeb should stay in Rallying even with S2000 for this is his area of expertice. His experience behind open wheel vehicles, as opposed to his age (34) is what will make him an "also ran" IF he were to obtain a seat in F1. While he is a great driver, no doubt, the switch to F1 is as much of a stretch as Hamilton going to WRC.; does not compute

Later, Ken

My opinion the WRC is dead. To corrupt and too much against thecnincal stuff, where the Japanese car makers are absolute kings.

THis is a main reason why Mitsubishi pulled out , then others. Now the Suzuki and the Subaru.

Who cars WRC anyway?
PWRC and IRC is the rally. Besides you got more fun with one Czech, Polish ,English German , Italian ETC. local rally anyway.
More cars enter, more type of cars enter, huge budget differences between drivers and so more exiting when the under dog wins. Which is happens a LOT

So i see the rally there not the WRC, where everything has to be perfect , phony teams and attitudes are surrounding them vs the cozy local or low budget teams.
The big deal about rally you can be involved and you feel that way, even if you are not. That is why became so big. The WRC everything but that.

i agree, but his name will give some extra sponsors for sure whaat ever team will pick him .
Also i dont think he actually think he will be a F1 champ.
But at least he can say i did raced in F1 too.
Which is a big deal.

I have heard that Loeb is fast because he is able to input the minimum amount of brake effort in driving the Citroën. It also seems that he makes less driver mistakes than others.

mikka hakinen tried driving the wrc evo's after his retirement but couldn't keep up with the wrc drivers. you read it here first!

I think, loeb moving to F1 will give them a run for their money. I wished he drove for the mitsubishi works team

Yeah I agree with the above, I heard that the WRC type of racing are probably the most challenging form of car racing, well above formula 1 racing. It is hard to prove as if you put WRC driver on F1 and vice versa, they may not do too well at a competition level in both cases since the nature is so different, but I'm sure a lot of experienced drivers would agree that WRC > F1 interms of difficulty.

i dont.
Both is a top of the car race world.
Let me put it this way Just because you are the best tennis player in the world that is not necessary means you are the best in ping pong either.

I think both is equally difficult and hard.
Different things you have to pay attention and requires different driver technique too.
So you cant say WRC > F1 at all.

it is not really relevant here but interesting to watch for those who think F1 is "easy" :
