Theory on delay of 2009 Evo X
It is a lame to try to put that on some one else , when everybody including you, know you did.

but sure its entertaining for a while...
The $40k X has an expensive feature the Subaru doesn't, and probably shouldn't be compared anyway if you're actually trying to be reasonable. $26k to $32k is not a giant jump for a better AWD system and 30 more HP. It's not much different than the pricing between Subaru's own WRX and $35k STI. I haven't seen any numbers that show the WRX as being quicker than the X. Hell, the 305hp STI still trails the X in everything except straightline acceleration, where it has a slight advantage.
In any case, Mitsubishi did have a response to the WRX. It was the Ralliart, and they botched it by giving it undersized, crappy wheels/tires that significantly hurt its performance in all categories in exchange for an expensive transmission. I hope they quickly learn this was a mistake and offer it with a cheaper 5spd.

quote form the Subaru forum :
""Sounds like the rod bearing failure that was supposed to be solved by the stop sale on the 08 models, but has carried over to the 09 models. Obviously, Subaru either doesn't have a clue as to what the problem is (or maybe how to solve it) or they are willing to accept the small number of failures rather than spend some amount of money completely eliminating the problem. In my mind, this is notable stain on the Subaru brand, which is typically quite reliable. Take the least reliable auto manfacturer (say GM) and you don't hear about major internal engine defects from the factory like this and even if you did, it wouldn't extend to two model years. WTF Subaru?
Invariably, someone will come in and say, "what does it matter? Its under warranty". But, obviously, they've never a dealership perform major repairs on their car. They try to rush it probably because the warranty times given by Subaru are unrealistic for major repairs. This results in stuff like stripped bolts, loose bolts, scratched/dinged stuff, broken connectors, etc., but as long as it runs, that is all they care about. So, yeah, it is not fun having your motor replaced under warranty."

all i ever said was:
1) that the X is ugly (which anyone over the age of 14 should know is a personal opinion and thus cannot be argued!),
2) that the X is overweight and overpriced (both of which are factual statements, and once again cannot be argued)
3) the X lost to a pathetic rental car with a small turbo on it (cobalt SS), AND not even in a straight line, as someone asserted, BUT overall, on a 4.2mile racetrack where the X should have been like a minute ahead of the chevy - it shouldnt have even been close.
that being said, guys, for the last time, this is your dream car! you worked hard to earn it! who gives a crap what i, or anyone else says, or even if the chevy beats it by 1 tenth of a second! love it! enjoy it! stop worrying what i think about it!
the OP asked why the 2009's arent here yet, and someone suggested that its because there is still a ton of 2008's sitting on lots, that no one wants to buy. I AGREED WITH THAT SENTIMENT - thats my opinion... MOVE ON!
i started it?? i never once compared the X to the IX or even mentioned the words "Evo IX" in this whole thread!! find me a single post where i say anything about my IX !!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Nough said? You left out that the IX and X were tested on different days. Different years, for that matter. 2006 versus 2008. Different track conditions and a different staff of drivers can produce substantial irregularities. You fell into the magazine's trap of comparing previous test sessions to the latest session. The turbo SS and the X were tested with the same conditions and drivers, though.
The magazine is trying to ... well, sell magazines. What is your aim? To save face?

It is no more flawed than looking at one test with the same drivers, as drivers skill and familiarity with the car in question plays a huge role in lap time performance. Hell, from examing the sector data in the one test where the X lost, you can tell that it wasn't being pushed to it's capabilities in several turns which sandbags the test IMO. What the mags need to start doing is hiring real pros to do the testing and that would eliminate a lot of these discrepancies.

Don't bother with him Rob, he's just some childish fanboy that has nothing better to do than troll forums. It is clear that victory between the two cars depends on whether the track favors power to weight or handling prowess. What's funny is that the SS puts down a faster time on VIR than his 9 also, yet as many times as I mentioned that, he just can't respond because he has no rebuttal.
Let me break it down for you. Since you are clearly dont read or dont want to admit your post .Like this:

yes its a giant conspiracy against Mitsubishi

u know who was driving that X so slowly on purpose? it was the 2nd shooter from the grassy knoll
WOW, with every post, im desperately trying to move on, but u guys are simply making it too much fun
Granted, S6devil's comment was inflammatory, but he's allowed to have an opinion and it's up to him to phrase it. OTOH, the reactionary rebuttals are just embarrasing. Really. You guys can't possibly think that such actions are to be admired.
The fact is that the X and the SS were BOTH faster than your 9 on VIR, and yet you have NO RESPONSE. Man up and accept when you're wrong, rather than dancing around issues and then taking out of context posts and using them to take the focus off of the fact that you refuse to acknowledge the facts. Grow up, and learn how to have an adult conversation with someone. Child.
I never said that it was deliberate, I just made the point that driver familiarity with the capabilities of a given car play a role. Clearly this true, as edmunds "pro level drivers" were only able to get a 12.8 out of a X with FMIC, IC PIPES, INTAKE, EXHAUST, AND REFLASH. There are complete newbs on this forum with little to no experience on the track pulling 12.4 on a X with nothing more than a reflash. In any case, YET AGAIN, you still refuse to acknowledge any of the facts in any of my posts, or Rob's posts, for that matter.

And of course here in the states that is considered the best Evo ever...
to Robevo RS, as one of the more well rounded forum member here, please have a PM chat with STi2EvoX about him keeping on mentioning my IX on this thread. he is so desperately trying to get me to mention it, or start talking about it, after i deliberately stated several times that this whole thread has nothing to do with mine, or anyone other IX's.
just makes me laugh
just makes me laugh
