Theory on delay of 2009 Evo X
The delay is likely due to the severe economic down turn. I doubt the WRX is the reason for it, but I am also sure that Mitsubishi took notice of those improvements in order to plan for future Evo models.
I have no idea why we are spending so much time arguing about the Cobalt. Its a great car, but is completely off topic.

Where is the proof? Links?

Not trying to hate on or anything just don't want people making misinformed decisions, call them yourself if your not sure. Ive called MMNA and 7 dealerships they all told me they are getting 09's in the states Feb-March

Canadian dealers are saying the 09 EVO X's are coming in March/April 09. I doubt Mitsubishi would go through the trouble to bring 09 EVO X's to Canada and not the US but who knows. Like I said before, until Mitsubishi Motors makes it official it's just a rumor.
Before the Evo came to the USDM, it was featured in video games, movies, videos all of which created an eminence street cred for the car. The road tests backed it up. Hell, just cruise around the forums and it's easy to spot those who want to be seen in the car for the sake of being seen. That's a big part of what's missing.
I dont know . For me, the X got more attention then any other evo i had.
I think the front makes it real aggressive on the street.
Anyway. Actually not a bad thing to being believed to be an under dog.
I do enjoy it, though.
But i agree with your point.

I hope they do that for the car's sake, resubmit the X for reviews in the major rags as an updated model, and get better numbers. Really. I'm completely serious. Whether some of us would like to admit it or not, published road tests have a huge influence in a car's street cred. I spent way too long, the other day, watching X Videos on Youtube and reading the posted comments. While the kids on Youtube can hardly be called opinion leaders, they do reflect the word on the street. Unfortunately for the car, there's a large sentiment revolving around the X being underpowered. Whether it's true or not is almost irrelevant, as the perception already exists.

Wheeew, back on topic! At one point there I thought the "big boys" (i.e., mod's and Super mod's) were going to reassign this thread to the "Off Topic" Division; let me tell you, there are some wacko's down there!
