Theory on delay of 2009 Evo X
Just going to throw this out to the forum.
I wonder if the 2009 Evo X has been delayed because of the new 2009 WRX. The new WRX provides similar acceleration (some magazines say it's faster) than the Evo X for about $10k less. Now, it doesn't handle like an Evo X, but to get similar acceleration is a pretty good bang for the buck. You also have to think that Subaru is going to come out with a much faster STI...they almost have to. They can't go out to market with an STI that is slower than the WRX.
So, I wonder if Mitsu was caught off-guard by Subaru's move with the WRX (and potential move(s) with the 2009 STI). I feel like they've been feverishly working to bump up HP and TQ in the 2009 Evo X so that it will handily blow away the new WRX and STI.
This competition between the Mitsu and Subaru will only mean better (faster) cars for all of us!
What do you guys think?

I'm just feeling that they got caught with their pants down and are trying their best to upgrade the Evo X for the next iteration. I read another thread saying no 2009 is coming and they are waiting for the 2010 which will be out in late summer/early fall.
Both the inventory and upgrading the power output would fit with that timing

Agreed. Simple supply and demand economics. Also dealerships can't afford to pay interest on the Evo inventory they already have sitting on their lots let alone on an influx of 2009 models which offer only a few cosmetic upgrades. However, I believe we will see the 2009's just at a later date during the year.

I do believe some GSR's were showing up late in December of 2007, though times and even tougher times ahead. One major factor is slow sales, none the less when everyone looses their jobs you'll see even more EVO's sitting on car lots and auctions, as well as every other make and model.

I'll be pissed if the '09's come with a substantial bump in power. And if the MR's transmission is built to handle more power... I'd be thinking about a trade-in after they start hurting for sales again.

Regardless of what they're doing to better-up the Evo, their delay is simply cause 08's are barely selling and the economy is in the sh*tter
I'm wishing for an '09 or '10 Evo with better interior materials and gauges and better performance overall (by then the TC-SST must've completely evolved).
