South Coast doesn't stay that current with those autotrader ads. I know because they bought my MR off me almost 6-7 months ago and I still see it on their website. I checked the VIN and it was sold a few weeks after they bought it. Those used IX/VIII prices are for suckers or a starting point to negotiation.

They do that to get u into the store.

The used car market is always inflated when working with dealers. That is where they actually make money (along with services). As stated before their listed prices are typically starting points...but anyone that pays their asking price for a used car is a sucker.

I just recently paid $6000 OTD for a Nissan Frontier pickup that was being listed at $9599 + Fees...right now is a good time to be a buyer.

SCM EVO

Even SCM says your prices are high, because if I'm not mistaken, this is a 2006 MR with 20k miles for $26k, and that's before the haggling starts. Anyone who knows anything about cars understands there is a lot more wiggle room in this car than an 08 X MR for $28k. It's a pointless argument, most of the time those prices are for imaginary cars that are "sold" as soon as you call about them so they can entice you into another deal.

BTW - quote all the car auction prices you want - it's not going to sink in to most of these idiots arguing that IX's sell for 40 grand. That's waaaaaayyy too much logic for their brain.

When was this RS sold for $35k? Maybe someone did pay that, and just because THEY are a sucker and OVERPAID doesn't mean that's how much the car is worth.

You really have no clue.

You and your buddies can overpay all you want. The truth of the matter is that right now Evo IX's aren't worth more than $25,000 tops. No matter how little mileage or what condition.

Just read posts #61, #62, #63, and #64. More guys chiming in... guys that obviously know a thing or two unlike you.

+1, I've owned all three and I like the X the best.

I am not sure you would find one by summer for $25k, but its not impossible. With warmer weather, folks will be out to buy performance cars to take out to track days. Just don't bank on a huge price drop and be patient.

There is no way an 2008 EVO is going to be lower than 26k... Mitsubishi would probably pull the car and cut the lost than changing the price tag...

If they dropped the price for a new EVO to 26 or lower imagin the effect on USED EVO and their other line ups Lancer,Eclipse, etc...

EVO is their top of the line car... They would have to drop the new Ralliart/Lancer/Eclipse to like 18-16k to make the difference no way!!!

I have seen EVO GSR models for 27.5... IMHO that is where a base GSR should be. A base MR should be about 3K more topping out at about 37K. These cars are overpriced by around 4 grand, if not more

The economy will go down again later on this year. Dont expect recovery until next year 2010. Its a good time to buy a car and also buy a house.

just buy what you want. its the economy thats hurting the prices, not demand on one particular model over another.
Not really. I loved my Evo 8 and I love my X also. I have more in the X though, a lot my interior room also (instead of rubbing elbows with my buddies that ride shotgun). only thing I don't like on the X is no trunk space. One piece of luggage...
