HID Crapped out!

ballast got fried im pissed and the mega uber super warranty of the POS car
motsu wont cover it by some magical reasons

they state "your car is modded"

i wonder what the effects of a big intercooler, an exhaust and a suspension upgrade have on the electrical system of the car

by any chance, does someone have the stock ballast from the passenger side?

according to the stealership they cant sell the ballast alone but i have to get THE ENTIRE headlamp assembly (which i think w/ all my being that's a lie)

anyone w/ a totaled or any help so i can see w/ both of my headlamps

That's how it usually is...I can't get just the rubber lip protector, I have to buy the whole lip. Unfortunately.

Good luck.

every dealer is like that. always tries to screw you out of your warranty.

To provide the obvious answer to your question, " i wonder what the effects of a big intercooler, an exhaust and a suspension upgrade have on the electrical system of the car?" ... absolutely nothing. And if this stands, then I would say this case demonstrates, without a doubt, no one should count on Mitsu honoring any legitimate warranty claims! IMHO you need to take this all the way to the top, where ever that is in "Mitsu warranty Land" for they do not have a technical leg to stand on.
Now to some specifics: under what conditions did your HID go? When you attempted to turn them on or while they were already on? Aren't these HID systems pretty reliable? That is, is this an unusual failure?

Later, Ken

Yes, you can buy just the black lip on the aero front lip. PM me if you need it.

Yep there's a thread at NASOIC where a guy's new car came out of alignment and the dealer denied warranty (no free alignment) because he had aftermarket wheels. Wheels and tires generally have no bearing on algnment unless one of the tires is faulty.

I just looked in CAPS and the ballast is sold by itself. You need to fight this though. They cant decline your warranty on your HID's if you have an intercooler or anything like that. If the dealer wont cooperate call MMNA and tell them what is going on. I would hope they would step in and help.

Here is an illustration from Mitsubishi showing the HID assy and clearly the ballast by itself.

nice find! Good luck man,

From what i was told they have to prove that the aftermarket parts you have caused a fault in your car..which from the mods u listed wouldn't cause any issues. Luckily we have a pretty cool dealership up here(the owner drives/ races his evo) and they honor it pretty good.
