Slow lifting trunk?

Just curious if anyone has the same issue with the trunk lifter as i do.. My trunk, when i "pop" it, does not come up at all. Then when you go to lift it is super heavy (feels unsupported.. are they all this way or just me

09 GTS does the same thing. Fingers don't even fit in the little bit of room it "pops" up.

That's where that huge wing comes in handy. Leverage.

Normal, I use the spoiler to lift it just a bit so my finger nails don't scratch the bumper trying to dig in there. Then once half way open the trunk just finish opening itself.

Likely reason is the heavy wing.

On previous evo, 8-9, they were carbon & hence light, but on the x, they change to plastic (abs or PU), hence the extra weight.

I have to use the spoiler to life it up 0.5" or so so I can even get my fingers under there. I can't think of any other way that doesn't involve possibly scratching up the paint or magically acquiring thinner fingers.

When I'm putting it down, I yank on the plastic surround of the emergency release handle on the inside of the trunk and let it fall shut. No handprints!

What a stupid design flaw, all they needed to do was put a small nook for your hand to fit under the trunk.

It is indeed a design flaw. I generally don't have a problem lifting it up though. I will try lifting some with the wing.

Its not a design flaw and even if it was I think its a blessing especially in windy areas. My trunk doesn't just blow open like my Evo VIII did when put groceries in the back.

You think that it is a blessing because you need to put down your groceries, dirty up your hands trying to pry your finger nails underneath to grip the trunk lid, then potentially wreck your wing to open up the trunk because you are lifting a heavy trunk by the wing?

So automatic trunks must be your worst nightmare then?
