So I went to the car show in D.C. and...
There was virtually NOBODY around the Evo X MR they had there. In fact, the entire Mitsubishi area was just about empty, while car makers like Kia and Hyundai had huge crowds. There were tumbleweeds blowing through the Mitsu section.
Mitsubishi needs to chalk up the L and either redesign everything or leave the U.S. Looking at some of those cars yesterday at the show, I'm amazed Mitsubishi sells any vehicles besides Evos. And even their halo car was sitting there like a Yaris, all alone.

Why is it surprising?
We (at least me) got to admit Mitsubishi doesn't make attractive, nor highly refined (interior) car, at least base my recent memories.
I gonna admit I think the concept X is pretty stunning but there is a big "lost in translation" from it to the final evo X. To be fair, the X is still nicer & more refine than previous generation. But it looks a good 2-3 years outdated when compare to the offering from Japanese brand like Honda & Mazda. I wouldn;t even touch on the offering from more premium brands.
Sure, the evo is fast, but in a car show where you never got the chance to drive, its not really a atrraction factor.

Bad Cars?
The Evo is a VERY narrow niche market car. At the last NY show I attended no one was bothering with Subarus or STI either, except for the Forester. And no one was looking much at the Mitsu lineup except for the Evo and the Outlander, but mainly the Outlander.
They sell a LOT of Foresters and a LOT of Outlanders.
The Evo remains top dog in it's segment. Nothing can touch it anywhere near the price. People who talk about the Cobalt, MS3, WRX or 335x crack me up. Clearly they've never driven any of those cars in snow, rain or a twisty road hard.
Still, the type of buyer who KNOWS that won't be flocking to the Evo at a show. It's a known quantity and even I would be more interested in other cars at a show.
But I'm still buying the Evo just like I just bought the 09 Outlander XLS. Bottom line is that car show interest is not much of an indicator of anything. When the Evo was still "new" it was getting lots of interest at shows.

evo is performance oriented, its not meant to be a luxury car. you cant have the best of both worlds for that price tag. ppl that buy evos have other priorities than nice interior imo. and at any car show evos will always be an attention getter
