my GSXR 600 does this also. Its just a auto calabrate. it looses its cool facter in about .27 seconds.

That does look pretty cool. It probably loses its appeal after the first few days though.

 

I always liked the opening gauge sweep on the STi's. The Defi Racer gauges have an opening and closing sequence too which is nice. The gauge sweep is just kind of cool and novel I guess, not many cars have it.

I think this can be mimicked using a few SPDT relays. The gauges work on a variable DC voltage, no? If you find out what the max voltage is, you can have a momentary pulse of this voltage during start and shut-off using relays.

 

Yeah you'll probably get bored of it after a week or two. Still looks cool though.

 

The purpose of having the gauges max out is to verify the indicators are working properly.
