How about mounting the rear wiper assy on the third brake light ?
Although, I guess you would still have to drill through the glass for any kind of a clean look.

You are going to have to wait and hope Mitsu offers it as standard equipment on newer Evos or Lancers. You are not going to be able to drill a hole in your back glass without shattering it.
It is maybe only possible to drill a hole in a windshield because of its design, the rest of the glass will "shatter" into safe rounded non cutting pieces.

I actually am looking to do it for function, not the look. I could definitely use a rear wiper.

It seems like GPT had the more relevant reply to your situation. FWIW, I love having a rear wiper. It was one of the reasons I bought a SE instead of another RS. Good luck.

CatalystGod,

have you had any progress with the rear wiper? What do you think of the possibility of mounting the wiper on a suction cup, as damen suggested.

Let me say I consider the rear wiper indispensable, not only for the rain (in city traffic) but also for the dust and grime which we have a great deal of here.

(I've been sitting on the fence for a year and not buying an X because of the lack of rear wiper, am not thinking of compromising to a Sportback Rallart instead - oh but why doesn't the Evo come in Sportback as well)

By the way, when I learnt back in late 2009 that the Evo X rear windscreen couldn't be drilled without shattering, I went so far as to look up companies who could make me a new windscreen WITH the hole built it. I was quote $3000-4000 for a glass one (cheaper for Lexan).
