Looking back, should you have bought a RA instead?

Hello everyone, long time lurker, first time poster so please be gentle.
I have read numerous reviews about the X Ralliart being 90% of the car the Evo is for 50% less. This got me thinking about possibly buying a RA and spending a few grand on it to get an extra 50whp out of it.
So...if you could turn the clocks back and get a full refund for your Evo X GSR/MR, buy the RA, tune it for $2k and pocket the difference, would you?

But I wouldn't mind having one as a DD. It could be a "parts bin" for everything I take off my Evo.
And if you throw a few grand on the right mods for the Evo you'll be up more than 100whp.
No...no regrets. I bought the base GSR for only a couple of thousand more than the ralliart, have much better brakes, better AWD, better wheels, fender flares, wider track...easily worth the extra money.
If you are comparing against the MR because you want the SST, then could be a different story.

It's a good question and I debated for months on whether to buy the X or the RA. Ultimately I chose the Evo due to the incredible deal that I got and the 0% financing. I'm so glad I chose the X and never regretted my decision. The money you would spend on trying to get the RA to Evo levels you could spend making the Evo that much faster.
hell no... The price of a ralliart is only a couple grand cheaper than a base GSR. In the long run people that bought the RA and put a crap load of money into it to get it to the evo level are going to regret their choose
Not at all.
If I were buying one and the only choice was the RA and Evos were no longer available.... Then I would be driving an STI right now instead of an Evo. For my wife the RA would be perfect, but I want all the extras on the Evo
. The only + side to the RA is the Turbo spools faster than the EVO does but its not a big enough deal to make me wish I had the RA.
I think its a nice car for the money, but I think I would have wished I bought an Evo if I had purchased the RA

I think the sportback option will make the Ralliart argument a bit more convincing for some people, but not in terms of performance. If you are talking overall performance (not just HP), I'd say it's more like 80% of the car for 90% of the price. Getting the SST standard only goes so far when the entire chassis, suspension, breaking, AYC are all watered down. But adding all the convenience of a sportback.... then its no longer a question of performance. Depends on what the buyer values more.
