Window tint scratches; window struggles to move.

So I've had my tint since maybe about 5000 miles, and I'm at 30,000 miles now.

My tint has been scratching since I got it, but never had the time to go back to get it looked at. I called the tint place and they said they only cover bubbles, discoloration, and peeling (lifetime). This was through the phone though, but I'm going to go to the shop tomorrow to ask again. (Oh and they did install some felt...or at least I think they did).

It's either they fix it, or they don't, and I'm pretty sure if they don't, they're going to suggest going to the dealer's, who will of course send me back to the tint shop.

Could a scratching tint be something I can blame on the dealer's if the tint shop doesn't want to fix it? Or should I be very persistent at the tint shop?

Now here's the other half of the problem: starting about 4-6" from the top, when closing and opening my window, it seems to struggle to do so. It shakes and looks like something is stuck between the door and the window.

I'm going to see what I can do about the scratches first, to see if that fixes it, but if it doesn't, what could this be? Is it a sign of an aging car?

Thanks!

The guy that tinted my windows in the summer doesn't cover scratches on the film either. He said it's just very tight on the driver's door, near the seat belt pillar. All he told me to do is slide a card w/ a paper towel in between the window & door to get any little dust particles out, which caused a hairline scratch in my tint. He also told me that the felt will eventually become unglued & cause a large mess, which is why he recommended not installing them, even though I asked him to.

Maybe check your felt & see how it's holding up? Regardless, the main issue is w/the fit & design on Mitsu's side. I've never heard about a window struggling to open in a X though...

Sounds like the window might be off track.
I doubt the dealer will do anything. they will try to blame the window problem on the tint guys.
But you never kno. its worth a shot.

Take it to the tint show and see what they say. And as far as the window goes and how it struggles, it sounds like its a bit of track like a post said above me. It happend to a windown on one of my cars. I took the door apart and adjusted the glass and the problem went away. Goodluck though.

Both of my front windows struggle too. It looks like a design problem to me.

same problem is happening to me.. first time i got the tint, i didn't get the felt/moleskin because i didn't know it would scratch, so i had to pay out of pocket to get it redone and pay extra for moleskin... the scratches still came back and the tint shop actually agreed to redo it free of charge.. don't waste your time with the dealer. because they will blame it on the tint shop, thats what happened to me. good luck

Moleskin, was my first MOD. 30 bucks and 30 minutes saves the tint.

Is it "moleskin" or another brand of felt?
