Took a Jab @ 9k RPMS on my X
Tell you the truth i dont know how i did it, maybe i didnt evne hit 2nd, possibly was just in neutral and hit throttle on accident, it went by so fast, Im doing gear guessing for 2nd gear, i can only assume at 65-70 2nd gear would take a sucker punch at 9k.
Omg and yes when i sold my Evo 8 MR for the X, i had such bad urges to shift to 6th gear. I feared it, but im pretty sure Reverse locks you out now im not going to test it.

That's funny I had an rsx type-s b4 the x and when I'm on the highway I always try to shift into 6th gear and keep forgetting it's not a 6 speed. I hate Mitsu for not giving us a 6sp manual! It feels so right shifting into 6th until the revers lock out hits and I come back to reality.
Well i jsut changed the at 3k im only at 4k, but better to be safe then sorry ill flush it out and and check for anything, then run a compression test to make sure everything is working ok. I know its prob fine, but for a $30k doing such simple checks is nothing to avoid. It all happened in less then 5 secs so i highly doubt it was in the area long enough to create dmg. But it was there regard the amount of time it stayed there, atleast it wasnt 5th gear at 100 something to 2nd gear. I feel so down now heh, My 8 was fine, so..Common lucky number 2 screw up.
Oil won't help it if you stretched the rod bolts. If the rod journal went egg shaped on you, you'll know real soon when the lower end gets death rattle from a spun bearing. If no failure happens within a week, I'd say it will be ok. Don't expect to get 250,000 miles out of it though.
At least we know the valve train will take some serious rpm spikes.

if theres no rough idle occured after that, then it will be fine. it will not deform the journal that easy. 4b11 is not that weak than you think. Cam springs are the ones to worry about but can be notice by a rough idling. its nice to do a compression test for precautionary measures.
btw, the rev limiter didn't work? no fuel cut felt while doing that?
