cant say for sure how aftermarket windshields are in terms of being thicker or not, but the Lancer and EVO x windshield share identical part numbers. Call any dealer and they will tell you the same.

I know this because I replaced my windshied my first month of ownership back in February of 2008.

Unless something has changed from last year, they have identical part numbers.

Yea i know. It must be this non-OEM windshield that is much thicker. It feels much better and I think it cuts down on noise a little bit too.. but i might be just fooling myself. either way it def cuts down on noise from the rain. When I had my stock windshield it almost sounded like hail was hitting it whenever it was raining.

Another cracked windscreen here. About 8 inches long, left to right. Car is one month old.

Asking Safelite for a quote and will talk to the insurance company.

Gotta keep in mind people aren't exactly going to post in here saying, "Hey my windshield is great" as much as people complaining (rightly so).

This is true with everything in the toubleshooting/issues sections of any forum really...

My windshield cracked on my IX...this is the only thread i could find about this problem. does anyone know if it was a common problem for the IX as well? it had a rock chip in the windshield when i purchased the car used from the dealer, and didn't notice it til the ride home. i kept putting it off getting it fixed, and one day when i went to take the car out, just from sitting in the heat (even with a reflector in the front windshield, i guess the heat got to it) and it cracked about a total of 10 inches. looking into getting a quote as we speak.

With this amount of tuners having cracked windshield issues, this should be on the RECALL list!

$75 a month for an Evo X? 27years?
hummm....there is something in your side that realyyyyyyyyyy get down that quote buddy, Evos are the more expensive car to insurance, not even corvetes, or porshas, is rank #1 in insurance prices. you have to be living in a really quite zip code, cero accidents, cero stolen cars, who knows....
believe me $75 a month is quite unnusual for an evo.
or maybe you have added to your insurances, house, boat, motorcicles, a few cars, etc.

I've drive mine daily for about 2 hours every weekday (for nearly a year now) and my windshield has yet to crack. Definitely depends on what kind of roads you drive on and how close you drive to trucks/ suvs.

This defintely helps. Anytime I'm near a truck of 18-wheeler of suv's or anything I back WAY off.

An 8 inch crack (running from the middle-upwards) formed this weekend. I will attempt to show this to the dealership and see if it can pass under the warranty. I would rather not spend 300-400 $ on such a silly mishap.
