Those with CF trunks!

Those of you who have CF trunks and are runnign wingless. Did you remove the shocks from your trunk? I noticed that the trunk is obviously a lot lighter and heard that it may not be good for the CF trunk? Feedback and input would be most helpful. Thanks!

The stock X trunk uses a strut to keep the trunk open. If yours doesn't have them, you did actually have something removed

I would be concerned that the extra force required to compress the struts meant for a much heavier trunk would cause undue stress on the CF. If others aren't having trouble it's probably OK, but the symptoms would take awhile to present themselves as the CF slowly deteriorated around the mount points.

A weaker strut may be an option, but I don't know how you'd go about finding one that fit.

I doubt keeping the struts installed would be an issue, carbon fiber is pretty strong.

I suppose its all relative to the quality of the cf trunk too. The good thing about the shocks is that it actually slows down the trunk at its highest point just before it stops, so it buffers alot of force. Yes it pops up faster, but it stops gently...

If you're concerned, you could always just run one shock instead of both. I probably wouldnt remove both though.
