MR Pull out into traffic question in Normal Auto mode.

Ok... So I have a 06 MR with a clutch that I control. Makes pulling out into traffic and crossing against traffic easy, and fun. Bring the revs up and let the clutch out quickly while feeding in the gas. Slingshot effect.... Then after 15k miles replace stock clutch. (I am at 27k on my stocker)

And now the wife has a 08 X MR. I can not figure out how to pull out into traffic in Normal Auto mode quickly (not neck breaking). The car does not inspire the same (anywhere near) confidence as the IX.

The car seems to think.... "Oh you want to go, lets just pull out nice and easy..... wait a sec... 3/4 throttle, WTF.... Hang on, slip the clutch, bring the revs up and now let the clutch out.... Ok.. Now we are moving."

Meanwhile I am like, come on... Feels like we are taking our time with a possibility of getting it in the door. But it seems to work out. Just not with authority.

What is the proper method of pulling out into traffic or hanging a left without running through the launch control method?

I think the SMGs of E46 M3s used to allow you to rev the motor while holding the stick in the forward position. Release the stick and car releases the clutch. Not sure. Do we have anything similar.

Ideas?

It's launch control or nothing else. I suggest that when you are about to pull out in front of traffic, mash the pedal 3 seconds before you would have in your other cars.

This is what I do:

1. Let off the brake a couple seconds before wanting to go.

2. Smash in the pedal

Or, just click it into "Sport" (I prefer using this in manual mode to keep the RPMs down).

That lag at take off is one of the main reasons I went with the GSR...

Keep it in Sport mode. Normal mode doesn't react fast enough and up shifts too early. My only automatic car 2006 Passat had two modes and the sport was way better for most situations except gas consumption. The car felt totally different in a sense it reacted faster and held a gear longer and was more controllable. Anyways

I tried the left foot braking, still seemed laggy. Not sure if it is good for the clutch discs. I will give it another try though. 1500rpm seems doable.

thats sucks to think that you need to get a throttle controller in order to control your car in the streets

Tune...more power in lower RPM = much more drivable :-P. That and, depending on how new it is, the SST learns. With it ECUFlash'd, I find my car will automatically shoot up from idle to 2K RPM to get me moving if I depress the pedal 25% or more.

Yep it's the drive by wire throttle. This isn't the first car I've driven with it but honestly I've never had an issue pulling into traffic.

+1 seems simple enough. Wait for sufficient opening and go, who the hell cares if ppl behind you honk. If you don't merge quick enough to clear the car behind you, then its your fault for even trying to merge. I could merge in a freakin prius.
