Attn: All X MR Owners w/ Tune and or Mods

I looked through every thread I could find on X MRs that have been tuned (with or without mods) and haven't found this question asked:

Have any of you guys with tuned MRs launched (using launch control) your car yet?

Seems like the SST is holding up just fine in daily / semi aggressive street driving but I'm curious to see how well it can handle the additional 40 - 60+awtq when launch control is activated. I think this would be a good benchmark on how much abuse the SST can really handle.

Please share.

Mahalos!

I've got a WORKS drop in filter, PERRIN turbo inlet pipe, HKS Legamax Premium cat back exhaust, and a Cobb AccessPORT running the PERRIN stage 1 93 map. I haven't dyno'ed the car, but according to the AccessPORT's dyno feature, I'm making 308whp and 321wtq. I've launched the car a total of 6 times so far, 4 of which were somewhat back-to-back launches at autocross (with maybe a 15-20 minute rest between each launch).

I haven't had any problems at all.

I have yet to get LC to work for me on my MR. I've turned ASC off/Fully off, put it into super-sport, stood on the brake, smashed down the throttle, I'll climb to 2300 than fly up to 7k and go limp-mode. That was when stock, got a test pipe UIP, AEM intake, and a custom tune.. no dice still. =(

Very reassuring. Thanks for your feedback!

That's odd... I don't know why it wouldn't work.

This is just like anything else, if you beat on it, it will fail, eventually. Soon, hopefully, there will be additional clutches available for these things so we can get crazy, but until then ... I would avoid launches with heavy mods, especially back to back .. where heat can start to break down the oil. I am adding a larger cooler to mine, as well, as locating a vent to cool it better, pulling from the top of the car, rather than under it. I hope this, with some common sense will allow my car to last longer.
