Window tint problem

I rememberd we had a thread talking about the window tint issure. as I remembered , if I want to tint my window, I need to take the whole door off and put something on? If we dun do that, something will scrach the tint.I forgot what that is and couldn't find that thread now.

Can anyone tell me again if I want to tint my window, what do I have to do?
thank you

pretty much all you need to do is take the window seals off and buy a single sided sticky felt and cover them before tinting!!! That is what we used to use when I tinted windows. Pretty easy install

Yes, to everyone who needs their X tinted...you need some sort of felt.

I have much end-user experience with this..

As per the instructions in the Tint Protector, I got the tint installed first before I installed the felt. Their reasoning is that the chemicals they use to clean/tint may break down the adhesive on the felt.

It's pretty easy to do yourself if you follow their instructions and a bit of common sense. Otherwise, yes I think some tint shops will install the felt but they may charge you alot to do it. A local guy was asking for about $80 for the labor work. Definitely not worth it.

you should be able to just pop off the seals at the bottom of window if not then you have to take the door panel off.

Aaargh!!! I wish I knew about this last week before my tinting. I've already got scratches. This is gonna be the most expensive tint job ever, doing it twice. Mannn!

that kinda stinks...oh well. i guess a little work and $30 is worth it for a good tint job that lasts.

If there's no need to pop the door panels, maybe i'll do it myself. can anyone confirm?

def not to hard as long as you somewhat mechanically inclined!!!(you change your own oil at least). just a couple of screws and couple of plastic rivets!!!
