Window tint problem
I have not tinted my windows yet but I did do some research on solutions to the problem. Even people with moleskin are reporting back with scratches. On www.tintdude.com there's a thread about '08 Lancers and different tinters experiences and solutions.
"Easiest thing to do is remove the door panels, with the window down, remove the rubstrip off the top the the door and 'surgically' remove the 2nd rubstrip. Then tint as usual. In fact, Mitsu dealers have a 'TSB' (technical service bulletin) NOT to tint the windows of 2008 Outlanders, Lancers and Evolution X's. I do between 10-15 a month. NO scratching. It helps that my 'work' vehicle is an Evo!"
"This tip was given to me by the tech in charge of interiors at the local Mitsu dealer and I now employ it on every 08/09 Lancer, Evolution and Outlander. With the window down, remove the door panel. Then remove the rub strip at the base of the window. It has 2 rubber 'blades' on the inside, facing the glass. With your Olfa knife, cut the lower strip off at the base. Tint as usual and replace panel. Easy, no felting required. I've done over 20 this way and have had none come back with scratches, including 3 owned by dealer employees, who report every little thing!"

i just spoke to the garage and they said that their anti scratch lumar tint will not scratch up with the lancers. they said that you could take a scraper to it and it would be fine. they said they are aware of the problem and that many people are claiming to sell the anti scratch lumar tint when they are actually selling cheap stuff from china. any advice on this? they seemed pretty confident in the stuff they use

if you do that, will there be any air flowing in from outside if i drive my car?
will it be safe to do this as well if i have tints already too?
dang, i can't decide if i should felt or cut that stupid strip...
Tint Protector has some of the best customer service I have seen to date.
BTW- The moleskin they sell IS NOT "A buck". They manufacture it and it costs them a lot more than that to make.
Project_evo, your probably didn't follow the directions correctly. Don't blame it on them.

LOL! I had it completed within about 20 min. The tint shop said everything was perfect prior to tinting my windows. They actually said they throw in the tint protector free upon tinting (which I needed about half a window worth because tintprotector didn't send me enough), so anyone looking to tint their windows check if your tinter will provide the protector free.
I appreciate your insight to my problem flnsx maybe I'll test their great customer service and see what they say about my problem.
