I gave up since the day i got my car. You can dodge a pebble. No matter how many times you wax your car, or try to take care of the paint, you will always find scratches and door dings. Theres always that one person who decides to park beside you, when there is a million parking spaces, and gives you big nudge, just to show you "i was here!"

It also seems like there is alot of hate in this world. And they have to show it off by keying your car. Every car i owned, has been keyed. I am not talking a simple scratch, but a scratch that goes right down to the plastic that takes out a big chunk of plastic.

^^^ and mitsubishi is not going to warrante a rock chip. Its not like the paint is peeling for no reason.

Over 12K miles on mine ... track day, autocross, commuting. I have no chips or scratches.

I had a clear bra installed first thing after purchase, car went straight home and the installer came the following day - definitely a good investment.

This issue really bothered me at first, the quality of paint has a lot to do with the brand they're using, I truly believe it's BASF water born paint??? I could be wrong, however it has the characteristics of BASF. Yes, I have peppered marks and scratches on the front fascia and on the hood here and there, the rest of the car has your normal wear and tear but is in overall great shape!

I simply could not justify paying $600 dollars for a clear bra, it was money I simply did not have. This car is my DD and will eventually become victim of someone's mistakes or sick joke... Nothings perfect in life and the EVO would be far from that to begin with, "it is what it is" and I accept it for just that. A lot my complaints were based on the way I was treated by a rep and a couple dealerships, I let their lack of care jade the car's over all beauty. I started nip picking everything like some hormonal women, I've since regained control over my rage and "let live and let go".

If that's the new environmentally friendly paint then yest it is. Subaru is using it also and they are having the same if not worse problems on their 08+ cars. What's the point of environmentally friendly paint on a car that gets 17 mpg?

co-sign with everyone. one day i'm getting this sucker repainted. my front bumper below the fogs looks horrible. so many tiny rock chips, looks like cookies and cream ice cream. i've had scratches on it since the day i got it. there are plenty of rock chips and scratches and i haven't even had it a year yet.

shame on mitsu for always using crap paint.

for those new owners out there, they all should buy a black evo, ding the crap out of the car so it's black with white spots all over, and call it "oreo."

My Dad's endeavor paint job rocks, so it's not all Mitsubishi's... Granted the Endeavor is made/assembled in the US, this could be a Japanese issue? Perhaps it's an ordinance, they may be forced to use environmentally friendly paint? I also have stains in my clear coat from where birds crapped on my car, I hope clay bar can take those out?

Clay will not correct bird poop etched clear coat. You need to remove the clear coat where the etching is. You can either do it by hand, or machine. Like others have posted, go to autopia.org and learn the basics before you go compounding anything on your car. The paint and clear is paper thin. Too much heat and you'll burn right through it.

What happens when it comes time to peel off the clear bra? Will the paint underneath peel off to?

You shouldn't have to ever peel the clear bra off. I get it on all my new vehicles. Saves the hoods as most new vehicle paint is crap, this isn't an issue to just Mitsubishi and Subaru. There's a reason that the 3M clear bra is becoming almost standard in northern parts of the continent and it's because of the paints automakers are now using especially the Japanese automakers.

come to think of it, i think there was a new mandate that requires US car paint to use water-based solutions instead of solvent-based. from what my buddy at the shop told me, water-based paints, although looks brighter and newer, is much thinner than the solvent-based paint and a bit more expensive as well.
