i certainly agree that if i decide on a new x it will be a gsr with as little options as i can get. but the thing that gets me is the general preferences in options that people want. its all good though. if i do decide to get the x it just means i get to spend more time in the garage tinkering with it!

Jebus I wish they would have added some type of 6sp. The only reason holding me from getting the X is I hate the transmission. Way too short geared for what I use the car for and cruising down the highway at 3500rpm isn't my thing. Put a worthy 6sp in it and I'd have one in driveway asap! I guess I would settle for an MR that could handle 400hp though...thats wishful thinking I suspect though

HKS is currently in the testing mode for their 6 speed trany for the GSR, just be patient.

Look, it's very simple:

The car you're looking for is the GSR; Nothing has happened to the Evo; there's the purist version (GSR) and the alternative for those who want a bit more comfort and features (MR);
Thats funny because I remember MR standing for Mitsubishi Racing, nothing to do with comfort. They should make an LE if they want to cater for the people who want 'comfort' in an EVO and stop killing the MR.

And the new MR is still faster than the GSR around the track in stock form (except for heating up after a while )

what's the point in complaining so much about it

Since 2006, the MR has become a US only designation. What we call the MR here is simply a optioned up GSR in japan.

MR's for the Evo X are gay. That's for guys that can't drive stick or are not comfortable driving stick IMO. I don't do automatic.

You don't know what you're talking about. If that was the case all the f1, indy cars, and sports exotic cars wouldn't have paddle shifters.

I live for a manual, I rev matched every down shift, I never missed gears, I loved my VIII.

With the new MR I can out shift anyone in a normal manual. I can concentrate on left foot braking. Two big bonuses for the track. I never put it in automatic mode. It is always in manual mode because I am the master of the car not the transmission. I can shift and anticipate events much sooner than the transmission can. Oh yah, the MR has a higher top speed too .

I was very much against the whole SST idea until I drove one. You don't have to like it, but you need to respect it.

I agree.

3 pedals and a stick is the only way to go.

Have either of you guys even tried the SST? And I don't mean on a test drive, but really tried it in a fast paced environment? Can you shift your Evos into 5th gear in 4 seconds?

Ever play Gran Turismo? You shift with the same fingers
