Got some issues with my new evo 2008

So, i bought a evo x mr for my grad gift. i seem to be having some issues, or at least i think they might be issues. the evo was new from the dealership but its an hour drive cuz no one had any evos. btw im a total noob with cars, hence getting the mr version huk huk. here are the problems:

1st problem seems to be coming from the breaks, this car is still fairly new, about 3 days since i got it. between stopping from 10-0 mph to a complete halt, i get a small sound from the brakes, kind of like a door creeking, really hard to explain.

2nd problem came today, when i was reversing i heard a sound that vibrated through my steering wheel for couple of seconds when i had the whole steering wheel turned(not a strong vibration, but nevertheless, a vibration), this sound also comes when im in 1-2 gear.

like i said, im a complete noob. i just realized what a break-in period was and i also have a question about that. should i be redlining a lot or no? max speed i ever go is around 100. if you guys can answer all these questions i would probably love you forever and ever, kthxbai

high performance brakes squeak. Its not a bad thing, get used to it.

As far as the vibration, not really sure but thats what a warranty is for. Take it to the dealer if your concerned but its probably just your power steering.

You should take it easy till at least 600 miles for break in. Try to vary your speed as much as possible. Some people say run the car hard from the start. Either way is just fine.

Hm, I would've thought the MR break-in period would be a little more necessary given the tranny. And I'm not sure if redlining and going 100mph all the time is a good thing... both for break-in AND the law! lol

You shouldn't ever turn the steering wheel with the car stopped! Always have the car moving when turning the wheel, even when parking. The whine is the power steering motor under strain. This will happen in almost any car.

Take it to the dealer ASAP! I don't think that's normal.

Agreed.

(And while you are waiting read the manual First read about the break-in period. Second read the section about the SST Transmission.)

so, I called the dealer and he said I should check the power steering fluid. I'm not home, so I can't check until 6, but once I'm home I will update you guys.

I actually paid for everything myself, the down came from my grad party. I have 2 jobs currently and that's dedicated towards the cars payments/gas/insur. got anything else to say?

that's not what you said at the start of your thread, but hey... more power to you. If my Dad paid for me to get a new MR i'd be cool with it too.

its normal. the evo is not a very quiet car like a lexus. try to drive it and see if there is something too loud. I think you are just being paranoid getting a new car. rev should not be more than 5K rpm. if you can do it up to 3000 mile break-in, the better.
