While I agree that there is additional strain when you steer while parked, it is my understanding that cars are designed and able to do this. (I heard this was bad for cars from 30+ years ago). If you can provide some kind of link or owner's manual information that supports your position please post it.

BTW not sure if it is in teh X manual but the VIII manual said to never turn the wheel to full lock with the car stationary, as others have mentioned. At least I think that was the case, deffinetly mention of not holding the wheel at full lock as it could damage the power steering.

If the fluid was low an a week old car I would take it back to the dealer just to cover your *** in case something else (like the power steering pump) fails in short order due to the fluid being under filled from the factory / dealer.

//Owned by lack of reading all pages of the thread//

Glad you got it sorted.

I have a 2008 GSR and a seal on the Power Steering Rack failed/leaked and I lost all of my fluid over a week. It got louder (whine) and then got jerky. I was going to check the fluid right before it got jerky and bought some fluid but since it got all jerky I took it to the dealer. Yours is maybe not so severe on your car. Just take it to the dealer. They fixed mine 7 months ago and no more problems. It is covered by the warranty. Good Luck!
Same thing happened to my GSR. Turns out the bottom hose of the power steering pump just broke loose. It is a weird vibration, and the whining is super loud. Its good you brought it in, because you may have issues with the pump down the road if you drove it like that for a while.

^^^and you base this off of what?
I have had my MR now for a year and have not had one problem. a few post in this thread happen to be GSR's that had a bad seal on the power steering. so this is obviously not a MR inherent problem.

anyhow glad the OP got it fixed.
