Do you guys hate to drive your Evo with AC on?
My X idle's entirely different with the a/c on. I try not to use it. I've never really tried to run it hard w/ the a/c on, but I'd imagine it would sap the power like any other car I've driven.
MY car runs like CRAP with it on....when i push the clutch in the rpms drop to like 400 rpms and sometimes the car stalls.....i almost ran into someone one day it died during a turn....
I've had my car tuned and it still does it....turned the BISS screw to make the car idle at 1200...still stalls the same no matter how high the idle is. I think its the cosworth m2 cams

When cruising on the freeway, AC on does not make much of a difference. It is actually better (mileage-wise) when cruising at freeway speeds to have the AC set on low than to have your windows down, due to the drag the latter creates.
When at a stop in town I will turn the AC off when pulling away from a light to cut down on how much the car bogs, though. It has been in the 90's and even over 100 and humid in the Seattle area lately, so AC is definitely on. It is a nice 80-something today, so that isn't too bad.
I usually use the A/C only while cruising at 55+mph. In city, or stop and go traffic the bog is annoying and I'd prefer fresh air. But I don't live in Texas, Arizona, Nevada... where I'm sure you're miserable if your daily driver lacks A/C.
Tuning the Mivec for better spool can make a world of difference on how your car pulls away from a stoplight:

If it's below 85F and I don't absolutely need it I'll just crack the window a little, although if the car was sitting in the parking lot the AC is going on full blast to get it livable inside. Even with the Mivec changes the car still can bog a bit more in comparison to not having the AC on, but if you rev it slightly more and slip the clutch it's not that bad. A good cold air intake will also counter some of the bogged down feeling you get as well since less hot underhood air is getting into the engine.

AC is man's best invention ever!!! One of the reasons why I got this car was because it had AC!! Drove an Integra RS for 8 years, and when I took a look at the EVO RS, I went straight for the MR! AC is good even if it's just to cool out all that hot air after it's parked on a hot day!

I have the M2's as well. Properly tuned, you will not have this problem with or without AC on.

Also, there was a comment about Max A/C made on the 1st page... Max A/C doesn't actually any more or less power, all it does is pull the air from inside the cabin (turns recirculate on) so that it's cooling the already cooled air instead of pulling from outside.
it's always on, you can't be serious with this summer heat in SoCal... lowering the windows is okay but not with the current weather, it's a whole different thing at night though
