i think with any boosted car, turning on the ac will affect power output. opening the window allows all the industrial fallout/dust to get in and sit in the car, so i turn on the a/c whenever i can, keep the windows rolled up.

I have the AC cranking nonstop in my car, even with the windows open. It definitely makes the car feel more sluggish, but if I'm making a run or anything, I'll turn it off. Otherwise, I can't live without it.

AC in my car is on by request only. If you don't speak up, windows are down.

I'm in Canada and I use the AC pretty well every day in the summer months as the dark interior gets very hot. My car is stock and I don't really notice any change in idle and power. Actually the AC in these cars is much better than the last generation Lancers as well.

i chuckled when i read the thread title b/c i do avoid turning my ac on but i don't really notice a big performance issue (cobb stg 1). i do like the summer gas though - i'm gettin over 250/miles/fillup compared to my pre-tune 200 in winter

that's because it is. you haven't seen the black dust sitting on your car after a few days? do you want to sit on that? do you live in an urban area? ever tried wiping your finger across the dash after leaving your windows open for a while? i don't know how your area is, but here the fallout is very obvious.

have you ever turned your A/C on while you are goin up on the RPMs in 3rd or 4th gear??? it feals like 8 horses suddenly disided to turn around and pull the car backwards hahah the weird thing is that it only happens when you first turn the A/C on the first time since you car has been shut off. I hate the A/C on the car. Like ivanxchvz said "only upon request".

There's a way to turn the A/C off? I'll never do it. Black car with a black interior south of the Mason-Dixon line.; my compressor works as hard as my engine.

If I'm wanting for more power because of the A/C, I'll add another mod before I touch that knob.

that must be it, i live in a suburb of chicago. i clean the interior maybe once a month with a damp rag, vacuum, and its totally fine. the dust isn't that bad, and its not black.

something i noticed with my previous car, the interior became much more dusty/dirty when i cracked the windows to vent while parked. even on hot days i keep my windows all the way up while parked.

and by the way, its not like my standards are low when it comes to how clean my car is, my friends think im a freak with cleaning.
