Can't wait to move back to CA though, I miss the winter...
Lucky! I wish I lived somewhere like that... Nor Cal would be nice too, by the coast... Then I could be close to Laguna Seca too. What do you do for racing in Hawaii? There isn't a track on the big island or somewhere is there?Originally Posted by chuynh207
the weather stays the same out here in Hawaii, so I rarely use my AC. I just roll down the windows and let the breeze go through the car before I get in. Then once I start driving, everything cools down. Plus people tend to drive shirtless a lot out here so it's not weird for me to do the same

+1 very good advice, I didn't know that about the AC system. Not that I ever leave mine off for longer than a track day or something like that (even in the winter having the AC on will help with the fogging of windows), but a lot of Utahns do, and I always tell em it's better to drive with windows up and ac on then not, and now I have another reason.Originally Posted by Dr..Evo

Personally... I notice very little change in power when my AC is on.. not to mention the amount of dust that gets all over the black interior that shows EVERYTHING!!

An earlier post stated a 25hp loss running A/C. That seems ridiculously high. A 25hp compressor would be friggin HUGE! Your car would be a FREEZER!Originally Posted by Codevo

I may be incorrect but an A/C compressor is run off of an accessory belt therefore only sapping as much horsepower as that paticular belt does... It's not like an air compressor that runs off of gasoline and its own self-sufficient engine, **** i dont know.Originally Posted by supergengo

I was just readin this thread, and I think its kinda odd that this issue with evos is still a problem with X's as well as with most VIII's and IX's. I know it sucks drivin with the A/C on in my VIII. Im surprised
hasnt really addressed the A/C bogg issue...

Hmm. I haven't noticed a power loss with the AC off, but now that I think about it, I'm not sure I've ever driven it with the AC off (I bought it in May and I live in NC). The car bogs like hell leaving my neighborhood since it's at a slight incline. I'll try it tomorrow without the AC on.

Does the fact that the evo x is drive by wire have anythig to do with it?? Like how you say that the revs go up slower and drop faster and what not, wold it be different if it was direct cable, and not electric??

I know exactly what you mean. Though the X is much better than my IX was with the a/c on, it still sucks. It feels like this car makes a little more torque down low, off boost than the IX. And the X possibly has a heavier flywheel so the rpms wont drop as fast between shifts.
