Crazy not to drive with AC on when it's hot! I love it and can live with a slower car when it's 80 + out!

i used to be that guy. criticizing people for using their AC (mostly to save gas). but i'm grown up now and i hate the humidity which compounds 90 degree + heat. ac fixes that.

and before you criticize me both my cars before the evo didn't have AC. i feel spoiled but it feels nice.

My last car didn't have it either! It's spoilage in a good way! I even took it to the next step and bought a portable ac unit for my room

Cars made past 1990(ish) don't have a decrease in gas mileage when you turn the AC on. This is a myth.

I dont mind it, I would rather have nice non-sweaty ***** then sweaty ***** with the windows down. However, its been unusually cool this summer.

Did you see that episode of MythBusters? They busted your myth of that being a myth. It may not be that big of an effect on overall gas mileage, especially for long trips, but it certainly affects it.

Mine also feels terrible with the AC on. It's difficult to drive the car smooth with the clutch I have as it is. With the AC on it makes it 10x worse.

According to edmunds, when they tested it, it was negligable.

All I see is that the difference between windows down/ac-off and windows up/ac-on is negligable. The only thing they mention about ac-on/windows up is that... well... here: "While the A/C compressor does pull power from the engine wasting some gas, the effect appears to be fairly minimal in modern cars"

My favorite is test #6... Sure you can save gas by shutting down your engine if you're going to be stopped for more than a minute, but since startup is the time where the most damage is done to an engine, I think I'll pass. Gas Mileage <<<< Engine Life.
