Import Blue Evo X MR Canada-->US?

First off, lemme say that I'm not currently shopping for a new vehicle, I'm just checking the feasibility of different options for future reference.

If I do decide to buy an Evo somewhere down the line, I want an MR, and I'd prefer to have it in blue, but for whatever stupid reason they don't make those for the US market even though Canada is right next door and gets them.

So how difficult is it to import a car from Canada, assuming I could find what I want there?

No matter how you slice it you will end up paying more. There is a Blue 08 MR in Calgary without the sun and sound package going for $43K Canadian which would come with heated seats but essentially a base US MR. Even with the exchange you would end up paying much more than you would on an equivalent US model.

There are services that can handle the paperwork for you. You have to have written certification from the manufacturer that the car complies with EPA and safety regulations. It probably does but getting the documentation is the annoying part.

I agree that getting custom paint would be a lot easier and probably more interesting.
