My S2000 ran 4000 rpm at 75 mph and would still pull 30+ mpg with the top up on the highway.

I would be happy if they had something along the lines of Evo VIII gearing in a 5 speed, but the current 5 speed is okay for now.

I am here to confirm that there is a higher final drive being made for the EVOX, 5 speed. It will drop the RPM in each gear.

I took my Subaru SVX out today and it has a 4-speed auto. At 83 mph, it's running about 2800 rpms. The SVX has a NA flat six that makes 230 hp. If my tired old SVX with 240K miles on it, does well with a tall 4th gear, there is no reason why the MR six speed shouldn't be running on par with it in sixth. Considering the EVO makes more HP than my SVX. Well, at boost it does.

+1. I LOVE my SST. Always in the right gear. Mild in normal mode, wild in sport mode.

I don't miss the clutch pedal one bit.

1. Improved fuel economy
2. Improved acceleration
3. A gear for every corner
4. Less noise when travelling (lower rpm)

None of us drive to work on a race track.

Yeah I came from a 05 STi. I've had the EVO since January. To this day I still look for 6th gear out of habit every once and a while on the highway. It just revs to high, I wish it was geared more like my Talon. It runs about 400 Rpms lower at the same speed and makes similar power to my stock EVO. The noise is fine with me but it would definitely boost it 1-3 mpgs I bet. I can manage 26mpgs on a road trip, which I think is excellent for a car like this. My Talon I can push 28-29 but that has Dsmlink so its tuned properly unlike the stock EVO. Of course the real winner is my Mirage that gets 38mpg. Best car Mitsu ever made.
