And a few posts in Evo 1-9 forums show that some VIII and IX have also had problems with their transmissions and clutches. As can be seen by these 3 posts on the front page of the Evo 1-9 general forum

I'm not arguing directly against you so I hope you don't take my posts that way. I am simply trying to show a counterpoint to posts such as yours so that other prospective Evo X buyers or current Evo X owners do not get discouraged by only seeing negative aspects that get pointed out. Everyone should keep in mind that most often it will be the people with problems posting and in truth there are just as many posts with people showing off their Evo X's without complaints and even more people who own Evo Xs without major problems in the world but don't come here to post about them.
No beef. Right now my ix is fine and for me to jump into another 30k plus car, Iwant to wait past the first year thats all.

Can't wait until it gets hot in some portion of the country, and some X owner posts up pics showing their gas pedal arm has melted...

Definitely send this over to http://www.mitsubishisucks.com/ - they haven't updated their 'sky is falling' home page since 2006.

Dude Mitsubishi-sucks is kinda taking it way too far! Their talking about POW's from WWII, like Corporate America's never slaved people out! All cars do have issues, but the use of plastic compared to steel is on the lines of stupidity. I enjoy all makes of Mitsubishi's and have persuaded my friends to buy 2 Galants and one Spyder.

I guess I was let down extremely last night, I began to think about the issues I've had and seeing that picture only amplified the situation 10 fold. I've never had any major issues with my lancer, it's has it's goofy spells but nothing out of the ordinary. This happens to be my second Lancer and I'm going on my first Evolution. I still incredibly floored to know they use plastic arms for gas pedals.

Hey listen...you're sticking to your opinion like flies on sh*t...I went to several Sh*tsubishi dealers to get a vortex generator for my IX and every one of them had a $5K mark up before the taxes on the award winning eVo X...making the car $40K before tax so rigth about $44K out the door...so could it be that in some parts of the country one gets ripped off more for a lesser quailyt vehicle than the previous gen? its a strong possibility...doncha think?

Southcoast Mitsubishi
Get it shipped to you for less than the markup at your sh!tty dealer

I've read of people getting it shipped from SCM to east coast for $1-2k.

It would be very hard to break there, BUT where mine broke was where the back plating ends and there is just the thin cross bracing. There is also a distinct line there in the plastic mold where it broke, which I cannot capture in a photo.

I have been very pleased with this car, and I have been a very loyal EVO owner. I have 2 in my garage and my next door neighbor purchased one so that we could enjoy them together. My dealer has treated me very well over the years, and I have responded by coming in to purchase cars at full price. My car was dropped off last night after hours and this morning the service manager called me and said that they sent photos to Tech at Mitsubishi and they are reviewing it. I was also told that they have some kind of information that I was racing the car and that they would be voiding my warranty altogether. I was at the dealer 10 minutes later to resolve that issue. My warranty is in tact. That was some sort of threat.

Please note that the pedal did not break as I was banging gears or making a hard change. I was sitting still with the clutch pressed in, and pushed the gas. As I pushed the gas the pedal cracked. It felt strange, but I released the clutch and SNAP...it broke all the way off. I would have left this all alone had my dealer just said "Sure we will replace the $140 part no problem" If that were the case, you probably wouldn't be reading this. Just keep an eye out guys. I'm not here trying to b*tch. It could be your family in the car when it breaks and your car noses over and gets plastered from behind....or worse yet, breaks in a manner that causes the accelerator to stick.

The good news is that Mitsubishi is very good about resolving things like this and if there is a problem they will take care of it shortly. My dealer HAS done the right thing at this point. Mitsubishi has refused to warranty the pedal, but after further conversation with my dealer, they are going to take care of it themselves.
are you kidding me, that is insane damn i thought only the rockband game drum pedal had issues, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLKiC2y5YMA

Oh I see ... umm ... I didn't.

I'm sorry if you (not you but whoever is in the market for an X) live in an area where your car dealers are trying to gouge you. I hope you don't buy from them and their lots stay packed with cars. (paying $5k extra for a car is a little better than the price gap in housing when compared to southern california though haha).

Anyway the point of me posting the SCM pricing and shipping options is because its an option. Or like you pointed out, flying down here buying and driving back is another option (man what a break in drive).

I was just tired of people constantly blasting the Evo X as a $40k car when it absolutely is NOT for many other people.
+1

Its not a 40K car. The MSRP is 33K.

Wait a second.. Did you say that Mits tried to blame you for racing the car and would void ur warrantee? If this is true, I would have needed to be escorted from the property by the police, cause I'd be throwing such a fit.. Seriously, it's a plastic pedal!! I had my METAL clutch pedal snap like that on my 94 GSX.. And I was just pulling into a parking space.. These cars are MEANT to be driven hard.. That's why they are built and marketed and sold.. If something like that breaks, and they threaten you like that, I'd be wigging out..

We should not be too negative about popping staples on cheap fabric, K-mart paint,
recycled plastic for gas pedals etc. We may annoy too many folks who got their beloved X already. We should be sensitive to their feelings.

What if the gas pedal got stuck as you floor it. OOOHH. I don't wanna be near that car when that happens! Good thing nobody got hurt and the dealer took care of it.

Instead of turning you away, Mitsu should look into the actual cause of this problem. It is good the dealer took care of you. That is kinda scary as if you were pullin out in front of a truck or something.

+1. I got mine for $35k (with the $500 loyalty disccount). X with SSS, Aero, and NAV. Almost $40k MSRP.

Examples.

As crazy as it sounds, this has happend to my friend's 2003 Cobra as well. Those plastic pedals manufacturers are using these days are a joke.
