50,000 Miles and what I think of my X
You are reaching big time here on all counts. WRX's handle pretty average stock and you will need much more than negative camber to approach EVO handling. There are a bunch of FWD cars that handle better such as the Civic Si, MS3, Cobalt SS, etc. As well 08+ Subarus have been more problematic than the EVO X which numerous engine and transmission failures throughout the WRX and STI lineup. The paint is even worse on those cars as well.
well i bought it because i am a 4 door turbo freak, and these issues for 30,000 and up does not make a great car. wow this thread turned into a hater thread.. i like my car but for 30,500 i coud have done a bit better. in a nutshell if you charge anything over 25,000 build quality should be solid. christ i remember going with my dad and buying a new 68 camaro for 1,600 bucks

i'm really curious for your solution for 30k, to get a better new car , which out perform the Evo etc.
subies engine issues are to be bleamed on alot of people just throwing on a boost controller. look at the camber on the evo,and look at it on the wrx neg camber is one of the biggest reasons it handles as well as it does, and look at the tire differences pure performance vs all season. i know thre are a couple of things in the suspension that help ,but adding the 2 majors i listed wrx will not get beat by much in handling. i am not looking to fight. hell i gave up my subie to buy this car. i just wanted more out of the evo is all

Somehow there's some association here between maintaining your car mechanically and both interior and exterior having build issues. I'll look past this though, because I'm not here to change your opinion on this.
In the beginning I loved this car, it was perfect, it had no flaws. Midway between the mileage I'm at now, this car's flaws slowly started to show. Right now, the flaws come pouring in.
If you all have had this car for this long and have driven it as much as I have, and your car isn't having any issues, alright, I'll say that maybe something is up with just mine.
I followed my family's footsteps and maintained my car to an immaculate condition. Unfortunately **** happens and money wasn't where it should be for me, and I just couldn't afford at this time to spend on maintenance. It didn't change my personality though, I still drive it slow, and I still baby it, and no, I didn't before and I still don't run my shoes into and step onto my sideskirts. That's just going over the statement someone made that implied "if you don't maintain your car mechanically, it reflects how you personally treat the car."
As someone else mentioned Mitsubishi tried stepping up their game and broadening their customer base. This car even offers navigation, bluetooth connectivity, and leather seats! If this is the diehard all-sports car we all speak of, then what is this problem I see here?
My car has issues. I'm not here to say Mitsubishi is ****ty, I'm here to report the current problems I have with my car.

Keep reading about bad quality....My car is 1 1/2 yrs old this month...no real problems still.
As to overall reliablitly I have a buddy who has a 1993 Eclipse GSX making over 900hp at the crank. (drag racing only).....they did not start having any reliability issues until they hit 800....sounds pretty good to me.
I have personally put over 350K combined miles on Mitsubishi cars since 1991 and NEVER had any real major mechanical issues. I have replaced a grand total of 1 clutch (all have been manuals) on the first car ...also the first stick I ever owned, one head light cable, recharged the air condition and fixed leak 1 time and one seat latch.
Of course, except for stretching a few oil changes (use synthetic), I always do the scheduled maintance...some times a little early.

I said at 20,000 that the pros outweigh the cons...but to be honest, I can no longer say that. Yeah, I haven't did maintenance in awhile, but none of the problems I mentioned really have anything to do with not having done maintenance.
If this car stayed the way it was in the beginning (problem free), I would still love this car as much as I did before. What I have in my mind now is "this is my last Mitsubishi."

Anyways, you can't say you maintain your car, then in the same sentence say you don't have the money to maintain your car. And especially can't say that when you say you haven't done your 30k maintenance and you're on milage 50k. That's insanity for any car.
I'm sure you mean well, but just like anything... you fix the problems as they happen. I feel sorry for you that you aren't happy with your purchase. But you really did get a great car for your money. I think you just need to get these minor things fixed and for the love of humanity... PLEASE DO YOUR 30K MAINTENANCE!
Once these things are fixed, and you throw a few mods on this puppy, you won't look back. Good luck.
I've gotta throw in my two cents. I bought my MR 4 months ago and I love this car. When you bought this you should have also remembered that this was a first model year run, my mini taught me this lesson( I skipped that lesson for good deals on the 08 X tho
) Good luck finding your no problem car. My last 3 cars, leading up to the Evo X, and I'm not even complaining about these cars, I liked them all that's why I bought them, and all of them had these issues in under 20k miles. And this list doesn't even include my other cars( daily drivers) Except a 91 Toyota 4Runner they all had some issues ( oh wait 4Runner had warped brake rotors )
All of these cars were bought new.
2004 350z. Burned through tires( tire roar = class action suit settled), fuel wouldn't fill to full all of the time( pain in the ***), crappy paint. Rattles, etc, still loved my car.
First year Mini Cooper S, plastic on shift knob cracked and peeled off( you would think not a big deal but try shifting with a piece of plastic rubbing on your hand), rattled, there was a TSB for a dash rattle, Mini\Bmw had to remove the entire dash to put in a piece of felt, that rattle was insane crazy loud. Speedometer would randomly sit at 5 or 10 mph. Oh almost forgot this one, plastic cooling fan under electric power steering pump on the bottom of the car getting destroyed from road debris.
BMW 323, Oil leak faulty gasket in first month, fuel sender sensor for gas gauge failed twice, second time wasn't under warranty. Electrical problem A\C would randomly shut off after warranty expired.
Who knows maybe my X will just blow up, and then I wont like it anymore. But having issues with a new car is pretty common, or I just have minor bad luck because I've owned quite a few brands of cars so good luck finding the perfect one.
Come to think of it my GF Smart car except for one sticky button to set her clock has been perfect.

There is a lot of awesome mechanical content in the car...it will be a challenge to keep up with the rattles, updates, improvements, and crap given the operating costs, car payment and, fuel consumption...but if you stay on top of it and don't let the little maintenance things get away from you, it won't be so bad later.
I pray that I don't need a clutch, a set of tires, and insurance payment due at the same time though....

Ok... Here I go
So I have an 03 Evo 8. I read all about them and knew they made noise and what not. I got the car understanding that it wasn't meant to be a luxury car... and thats what I wanted an *** kickin car not a luxury car. I know the 10 hasn't been out long so no one has had many of the problems that may or may not happen. But you do have the previous generations to judge off of. I can understand why you would be upset 32+k is alot of money for a car but there are some things you must think about. Import taxes drive the price up, and your still buying a version of the kick *** rattly older evos. They are performance cars not your moms buick, even the new ones (they may be softened up a bit and made a bit more luxurious) but they are from the same blood line. You cant expect mitsu to jump from rally car to land boat... they would completely loose all the hard core fans. I'm sorry your car rattles but it comes with the territory. You should ride in my 8 its makes tons of noise but its fun as hell to drive and I am willing to make the sacrifice. I payed to have fun and thats what the car is made for.

.... when you have a stock tune for your "performance" turbo car which causes it to run dangerously lean leading to massive amounts of engine failures throughout subaru's 07-08 lineup.... you have a much more expensive fix than a rattly window and some bulbs... trust me you got plenty out of your evo
subies engine issues are to be bleamed on alot of people just throwing on a boost controller. look at the camber on the evo,and look at it on the wrx neg camber is one of the biggest reasons it handles as well as it does, and look at the tire differences pure performance vs all season. i know thre are a couple of things in the suspension that help ,but adding the 2 majors i listed wrx will not get beat by much in handling. i am not looking to fight. hell i gave up my subie to buy this car. i just wanted more out of the evo is all

I have a CT9A like yours with no rattles. There was a rattle coming from the glovebox. It started at ~8K miles and it was a very easy fix. When I upgraded the audio system, the door cards began to buzz at certain frequencies. That was handled with a layer of closed cell foam between the door skin and the card. Rattles, squeaks and buzzes bug me to no end. The IX is one of the most solid cars I've owned in ~30 years behind the wheel and the only non-German machine I've purchased for personal use.
