Abnormalities with starting the car

Hi Everyone,

I have had my Evo X for about 4 months now, and just yesterday I noticed something strange about car's ignition. Typically, whenever I put the key in and turn the ignition, the car ticks a couple times (the fuel injectors?) right before it fires up. Just yesterday, I went to go start the car, the car starts and fires, the needle jumps to idle, and then the engine quickly stalls on its own. I turn the key again, and the car doesn't respond at all- the electronics are fine, but there's no firing, no ticking, nothing from the engine. After waiting a minute, I start the car again and it fires up properly, and I was able to drive home with absolutely no issues.

Now, whenever I go start my car, the ticking no longer occurs, even if it's a cold start. The stalling issue has not re-occured yet. Is this something I should be worried about?

For reference, my car is the base, completely stock GSR with just over 3000 miles on it.

Thanks for all your help.

I had similar issues with my car, and sometimes fluctuating/stuttering idle. It took it to the stealership and they reflashed the car under warranty. It works much better now.

The one thing I noticed on mine is that I always park in one spot at work which is slightly uphill and if the tank is down to 1/4, it is almost like it is sucking air and you have to crank it for a long time. Never does it with more than 1/2 full.

****Update****

Issue no longer occurs; The ticking happens again when I start the car from a cold start, haven't noticed any other problems. Might just be a one-time thing. I [I]hope[I] it's just a one-time thing. I'll bring it in to the dealership to get it checked out when I go in for my fuel line recall addressed.

I've had this happen to me 2 or 3 times... exactly as you described your problem. I have a stock GSR with 8000 miles. The good thing is that it always ends up starting just takes a minute.

I've had this happen in both my GTS and GSR (it's not just EVO related), it has to be something in the ECU (my guess), I'm sure they'll release a flash for this issue???
