CEL on center disply?!?!
CEL on center disply?!?!
hey guys so heres a quick concern i have.
One day i was driving going around 35mph in 3rd just calmly driving, next thing you know the car jolts like i stalled and it showed "check" on the center hud as well as a symbol of an engine. It kept driving and after that it felt fine. Anyways after getting to my destination i checked the oil.. nothing... for a few weeks after the car felt fine.
but tonight i was just driving around and the same "check" light popped up..this time the car didnt jolt.... After dropping off my roomate the car jolted again and the same light popped up again!!
I'm a little worried and i have no idea what to do...the closest dearlership is about 1.5 hr away but they suck.
My Evo has the AMS single exit catback as well as the AMS test pipe... the only thing i can think off is that the entire 02 sensor has been pulled off...its attached to the cat converter (my buddy took it off from under the passenger seat) so the plug for the 02 sensor on the test pipe is just open...
any and all suggestions are welcome! thanks guys!

1) You need to have that 02 Sensor, Otherwise you will for sure throw an emmissions code.
2) I dont believe the Jolt could be occuring from the missing 02 sensor but I could be wrong, You should definately replace that 02 sensor with an 02 fix to prevent from throwing a code, if I were you I would at least plug the hole with a bolt so your not leaking exhaust all over under your car.

You don't mention if you have a tune, but a guyaround here had similar issues with his car when the fault codes piled up in his car. He was just clearing the codes, bit it caught up with him. Like the person above said- get yourself a rear o2 sensor and a tune to compensate for the cat efficency dtc, and you should be fine.
thanks for the replies guys i really appreciate it! ill go to autozone or my nearest autostore and buy a non-fauler..
my next question... where does the 02 sensor plug into under the passenger seat? i have no idea where to plug it (dont want to take the seat out).

You do it from underneath the car. There should be a bung at the back of your test pipe (same place as it was on the stock cat). While you're at Autozone, borrow their OBD-II scanner and check your codes. You're probably getting cat efficiency and heater circuit... Anti fouler helps the first, and having the O2 sensor plugged in the second.
Also, do you have a tune? Without one you'll probably still throw the code for cat efficiency until you get a tune and disable the DTC.

no i havent gotten a tune yet.. mainly cause i want to get a DP and intake before getting a tune.
I know where to put the 02 sensor..i just dont know where to plug the actual sensor from underneat the passenger seat.
thanks again!

Slide your passenger seat back, look for the flap in the material under the front of the seat (easilly visible) reach down in there and search around for the plug that the 02 runs to, thats what you are lookin for, Shouldnt be too hard.

so i got the 02 sensor plugged into the car, and the test pipe... but the only problem is that i bought some non-foulers but when i put the screw (the thing that goes into the cat) into the non fouler it wont fit... but when i put it on the test pipe it fits fine (no foulers)... is it cause the non fouler is too short? (the guy at the autoshop did say they only have the short ones)
