ClearBra...Safe!

Just wanted to share a story about my clearbra.

someone tried to key my front hood...i don't know when or where but i was washing my car last weekend and noticed it. thankfully, i have the front clearbra'd with some good 3M film. so the scratches are superficial and not very noticable until i'm like 5 inches away and even then i have to look at it from a certain angle. must've surprised the hell out of the ******* when no paint was coming off. this just made the price of the clear bra worth it for me!

Talking

Just got mine done today
it's a bit expensive and over kill but I rather keep the paint in perfect condition then worry about repaint...

did Full Hood, Fenders, Bumper, Mirrors, Side Skirts and a Huge piece over the rear door and on rear wheel arch

It's raining now ... i'll take some pics when it's nice out
the guy who did it on my car did a very good job since it's all wrapped around the edges of the hood and fender so no unprotected edges that's how he does it for Ferrari and Maserati dealership

I agree 3M Cleargard is a MUST for the craptastic paint on the Evo.

I didn't go as hog wild as you did, but a large piece on the rear doors is super critical.

I've been wanting a clear bra for a long time and still trying to get one, but they're soOOO darn expensive, especially for the front end. :X

My soon to be ex-wife scratched *** on the both side of the car on the side skirts. Little did she know that I had clear bra on them. Just pulled it off and put new 3M on. Never even made it to the paint.

this is something i would NOT attempt to do myself. leave it to the professionals on this one. i'm sure it will be worth it in the long run.

unfortunately i bought my evo used, and there was no clear bra on the car, but i plan on repainting the hood, bumper and fenders, and then having a clear bra put on.

Beetle, if it is pre cut than the installation is not That hard, BUT if you have to cut it out then it will be a pain. The reason I say this is the flat surfaces are very easy to install ie door and hood. The bumper is another story, this is where I have had moments where I talked to GOD! What makes this area hard is the curves and turns on the bumper as you have to stretch and mold the material. If you take your time and dont get frustrated easy then you can do it. If you have a short fuse then I wouldnt try. Also you have to be in a garage out of the wind and dust. If you do a search on YOUTUBE for clear bra install there is a lot of them on there.

I paid under 30 on ebay for the front end kit. Ive never removed one after a couple years because they still look good. But they claim its easy with very little clean up.
